What is the best set of instructions to follow to install bharti?
Will this effect my unlocked status of my bb (its unlocked)?

I want to revisit my statement of my device being sluggish after the update. Someone replied to me that it gets better. I found that hard to believe,,,,but I must say after using my device for 5 hour or so after update I have to admit the sluggishness has gone away. I am very pleased about this but at the same time perplexed

I'm running the Tmo OS (.284) and the ringers and messages are loud, loud, loud. I unlocked the Zen themes and everything's perfect.

It's pretty typical anytime your Blackberry needs to communicate/update after either an OS upgrade, enterprise activation, or long period without reception. I think a lot of people don't realize that the Blackberry handheld itself is really just a "frontend" and it needs constant connectivity with the backend (BIS and/or BES).

I went to the TMO OS as well on my 8700c. I like Zen, though I wasn't enamored with its default font choice. I think an improvement to Zen would actually have icons on the left as well. Now my wife is bugging me to find a better picture of her to put on my phone!

"Bharti" has become famous here because it was the first release of OS .284 and therefore solved a serious ringer volume issue (together with other improvements). And of course it gave us the Zen theme.
If you have a T-Mobile 8700g then you are not going to get those peformance improvements - you already have them. The issue then is "to Zen or not to Zen". Period. And ideally, should you choose to Zen and if the download is available, you will do the upgrade with a T-Mobile OS version, not Bharti.
For those of us already on Bharti, the issue may be different. Rogers OS .284 is available but I'm not switching because my Bharti installation works perfectly. If ain't broken, don't fix it.

Forgive my question. I have read the detailed steps to install Bharti. Am I correct in assuming that my BB is to be connected to my desktop for steps 1 through 8?

Bharti Bluetooth Performance Improvement
Haven't seen this reported yet...
Occasionally, my Plantronics Discovery 640 headset caused my BB to spontaneously reboot in the middle of a conversation. This occurred on my 7100g as well as the new 8700c. After I Bharti'ed, the issue went away.

I did my 8700C last weekend. Did it primarily for the themes, but got all the other good stuff in return. Volume is much better, and everything just seems to work better. Well worth the 20 minutes or so that it takes to do, just follow the instructions.

So from random posts I have heard bharti:
1. Fixes ringer volume bug
2. Improves Bluetooth performance
3. Improves earpiece sound quality
4. Capability to use ZEN theme
Sorry, just bustin' stones....

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)
I must add after my first full day of having the upgrade that those of you that are thinking about upgrading and using the zen theme is go for it. I have read that some where not thrilled with it, but with the use of shortcuts this theme/upgrade rocks.

Can someone clear this up? I just went into control panel-add remove programs on my computer and underneath Blackberry Desktop Software 4.1 is "Blackberry v4.1.0 for the 8700 serieswireless handheld"
I am pretty sure this is from my upgrade process. But is it something I need to keep on my computer?

You're probably seeing both the desktop and handheld software.
