The OP's photo actually looks like it's designed for the 8700c. The older model OEM cradle has a much larger gap at the sides and doesn't come with a coiled sync cable.

Posted a similar message in another thread, but be aware that I just got my Wirelessground powered stand for the 8700r today (website claims compatibility with all 8700 models), and it's a total letdown. It fits my 7290 perfectly so it's obviously nothing more than a claim of "compatibility with 8700 models" as way of selling a stand that the 8700 just flops around in, there's so much space on each side (1/4" or more) that it's a joke. Tap the stand lightly and the BB falls out flat on its face. Disappointing, especially for $40.

That's what I was afraid of and voiced in Seattle's review.

Sham.

Default Proof's in the pics!

Just to end this thread on a definitive note, here are a few pics of the Wirelessground "8700" case, which in actual fact is a 72xx case that happens to be able to accomodate an 8700 (though very poorly). Note the space on each side of the 8700 vs the perfect fit of my 7290...

Do not buy this case if you're looking for perfect compatibility!
