7100t is lacking hardcore in quality and functionality
Please Login to Remove!
The 7100t seems way to cheap and with this new 4.0 upgrade, it is acting more like a rookie than a pro. My phone is performing soft resets while i am on the phone and it takes forever to wait for the reboot. The whole entire phone sweeks like a 97 Pontiac everytime you touch it. My screen has a ton of scratches and bothers the hell out of me.

There's a 7100 forum (General Charm Discussion), completely dedicated to the 7100 (which is why you don't see that much about it in the General BlackBerry Discussion forum).
I have had no personal issues with the 7100t - quality, upgrade, dropped calls, etc - that goes for atleast 4 other 'power users' in my department (IT). We got these when they first came out because of the price as well as the style (they were former Treo 600 users).
The only squeak that I get from the handset is if my fingers are pushing down on the back cover.
The scratches (and this goes for anyone who has a 7100t) is your own fault. Invest in screen protectors. It may look 'geeky' but atleast it will protect the screen. Its honestly not that hard to see that this screen would be prone to scratches.
Also, keep in mind that the 7100t was a cheap way for RIM to make a product that would touch the consumer market not the corporate market (which they already had a strong presence in). Some of the corporate industries (sales, IT) have adopted this handset (for reasons that I mentioned earlier, amongst others). In the short four months that it has been available, it already represents 20% of TMO's BlackBerry market. Thats not too shabby and I think its done what it was intended to do - bring the technology to the consumer masses.
Also, keep in mind that companies such as AT&T Wireless were second-guessing whether or not they wanted to adopt this particular handset due to costs of support for the consumer market. I think the success of the handset with TMO has pretty much vaulted this into a 'must do' product release.

Topic moved to the Charm (7100 series) forum --
I believe that excessive automatic reboots even after upgrading BlackBerryOS, indicates this is a defective phone. (i.e. reboots occuring regardless of BlackBerryOS) You should replace the 7100t by claiming warranty.
Personally, I prefer the 7290, 7520 or 7250 models (depending on which carrier you are with). Those models are the ones that really get the job done, in my opinion!
At the moment, the priority should be in fixing the reboots. They are frustrating & maddening. Do they constantly happen on all of your company's 7100's or only on your own or few? In which case, warranty should definitely be claimed.

I would say that it was likely the installation. A reinstall of the OS should likely fix the issue, perhaps. At the very least, it can rule out either hardware or software as being the issue. Heck, try going back to 3.8 if the problem still persists with 4.0. That will be a definitive test as to hardware or software issues.

Yeah, possibly the "javaloader -usb wipe" trick might work, to make for a cleaner install of a new BlackBerryOS.

p.s.-because i replied to this thread that i had no issues with reboots, i had a reboot after getting off a call today - woot! thats actually my first unforced reboot yet.. ugh. i would think this is just a software version bug, but if it keeps happening to you on a consistent basis, then do the javaloader wipe and reinstall the OS (backup things first).

Well Happy Birthday anyway, Jibi, although I guarantee you wouldn't want to hear my voice saying it first thing in the morning...
Always nice to find a fellow aquarian. Mine is tomorrow.
