Service Pack 5a for Blackberry Enterprise Server 4.0 for Exchange has now appeared on the Blackberry website. long list of issues fixed.

anyone installed it yet ?
any problems/issues to report ?

Another question is, are all the fixes outlined in this service pack 5a for BES 4.0 also included in BES 4.1/Hotfix 1? Cause we have some servers at 4.0, and some 4.1, and was planning upgrade of the 4.0 servers to 4.1 also, but if these fixes are not part of 4.1, we might just upgrade upto this service pack instead of 4.1. (or maybe we can expect a service pack for 4.1 soon also?)

Can anyone think of any issues one may encounter following an update from 4.0.4 to 4.05A? I plan to back up databases etc., but our IT manager said that every device on the BES required re-activation during an update last year..

I'm planning on installing SP5a tomorrow morning, on a BES 4.0 SP4 HF3 server with over 500 users on it. I'll have a good idea on Monday if it was a good or a bad idea... We identified about 10 of the fixes in the release notes that were applicable to our environement. Here's hoping it doesn't introduce any other little nasties.

i'll be interested in hearing your results. i am in the same boat (fixes applicable to our environment).

Installed this morning, everything when fine and straightforward. Basics are working... They even updated the Java client which is kinda rare, not to the latest version or anything...
