Default Got the 8700G and LOVE IT

Please Login to Remove!

Finally after many a post here (and many helpful answers) I took the plunge.
I ordered from ushopwireless (venicom) for $250 for a 1 year contract and $275 of confusing yet doable rebates.

I fired it up. To my surprise, I saw EDGE in caps! This was after calling T-mobile to ask if EDGE is available in my area - they responded that it was not available. I went with the unit anyway, because I'd be okay getting my email at GPRS speeds. Well, looks like T-mobile has upgraded their network here (99163 Zip) and their tech support just wasn't in the loop. Woohoo!

Thank you all for pointing me in the right direction. The audio is awesome and the web works well beyond what I had expected. The build on this thing is better than some have described too. I'm instantly addicted.

Congrats JD. I think you will continue to love your 8700g. I have the same and am with TM and so far, just a few little quirks that always get worked out. I think your BB will become your new best friend.

just be careful though i dont think t-mobile would have told you that it wasnt available for no reason...i mean if anything they probably would have told you yes it was available so that they could get your money and then you get the device and it wasnt available.

but i wish you the best and im glad you are part of the BB8700g team!

You could possibly be roaming off of Cingular. Just a guess. Like someone said, if TM had the service avaiable, they would have undoubtably told you so that you would have more inclined to buy their product. Good luck with it. I have the 8700 and love it.

If was roaming onto cingular, wouldn't the display say "cingular"? Mine says "T-Mobile".

I know that TM just (~2 months ago) put up several new towers in our area, so maybe they just had not updated their tech folks.

Hi Everyone! I recently ordered the 8700g from ushopwireless almost 2-weeks ago, but have not received anything yet. I called customer service and left 3 separate messages on 3 different days already, but no-one has gotten back to me. How can I reach a live person to check on the status of my order? Any ideas? Can't wait to get my BB... Thanks!!

I had no trouble getting anyone on the phone there. In fact, each time I've called, an actual human answered the phone instead of a Menu.

Oh my gosh, I actually got a live person this time... Thanks guttapercha! I think you told them to pick up this time, right? Anyway, they told me that the 8700g is on back-order and should arrive any day now. They promised to ship mine overnight as soon as they come in. Great!

Thumbs up Took the plunge also

I was so close on getting the Treo 650 or Treo 700w, but it required for me to change from TMO to VZ. I have been on the fence for about 3 months and finally took the plunge last week. I ended up staying with TMO and purchased an 8700G.

What the heck was I waiting for? This is exactly what I needed for my business (not having to wait to get back to the office/home to check email).

I still have my HOTSPOT account, but I'm thinking of dropping that since I purchased it primarily for checking email while on the road.

Glad you're getting it. Seriously, I don't have anything to do with these guys other than having purchased a phone from them and getting what seems to be a good deal (we'll see if the 4 or so rebates come through when the time comes).

Hope you get it soon. It's absolutely the best phone I've ever had....and I've been collecting phones since the early 90s analog days.

I got mine 2-weeks ago and LOVE IT! Can't seem to put it down... The phone performance is great also and works seamlessly with my Motorola H700.

Default Sorry MDA...HELLOOO BlackBerry =)

My very first forum post... here we go.

I had the BB 7100t for a year, then switched to the new TM MDA just because it was something "new". I am proficient with the WM5 OS but I was having a lot of difficulty with efficiently navigating my device. After a month of "soft resetting" and tweaking, I decided to give up my MDA and get a BlackBerry. To my surprise someone on Craigslist posted a messaga indicating that they want to TRADE their 8700G with an MDA. I jumped at the opportunity and NEVER LOOKED BACK! I absolute love the simplicity/intuitiveness of the BB design and its robust features.

Mahalo to BBF members for the great information! Keep it up!

You know, it just occured to me that today is the first time i've had to reboot my 8700c in the past 3 months (and only because i uninstalled opera)!! You couldn't have that kind of stability with WM or Palm! I love my BB!
