Waterloo Rim Employee spotting/sightings..
Please Login to Remove!
For those of us that are in Waterloo, let's start a thread on spottings and sightings of the RIM employees and their devices.
You know what i mean -- you can't miss it. Waterloo RIM employees with their VERY obvious RIM badges..
and even MORE obvious are the BELT PACKS that contain devices.. sometimes, they are different, and arise your curiosity..
Sometimes, RIM employees will even take out their devices and you just might get a peek at something intriguing.
So, folks from the Waterloo area, what have you noticed?
At lunch today, i saw what appeared to be an 8700-like device, but it was a metallic blue in color. What did i see? i don't have the slightest idea. =)

And to the RIM employees out there: You know your company policies on use of beta devices. I hope you don't mind what might be considered fun for us non-employees. But act according to your policies and nothing bad will happen, right? =)
Beltpacks really should be banned, but people really seem to love their beltpacks.. (my blackberry is always tucked into my pocket) Belt packs are annoying, large, obvious, cumbersome, ugly, and leave you vulnerable to have your device PICK POCKETED!
May the games begin..=)

Custom white is ok...but the red ones (I believe they were made for when Aerosmith played for RIM) are pretty cool too (7290s)
To the OP, if it looked like an 8700, I can guarantee it was an 8700. Look at how T-Mo has the Black 7290's and the metalic blue ones. Or the Cingular gray 8700, the Rogers blue/black 8700, the voda gray, T-mo blue, etc.

I can't say for sure it was an 8700. I could not get a closer look. =) Come on, get out there.. go for lunch.. RIMjobbies are everywhere with their badges.. and devices. Should be pretty easy to spot the unusual blackberries!!

I'm sure that if you carry one of them new unrealeased cherries on the pie, you will likely think you have a pack of wolves surrounding you sniffing at your belt trying to get the best look possible of the gadget.
Best to wear the phone inside the waist line as if you were at an amusement park, or in a bad part of Toronto to keep it secure and away from prying eyes, and the ever so now popular POS Camera phones that are on the market and EVERYWHERE.

You can spot us because we wear those lovely green and grey jackets the company gave us. You don't need to look for the badges

Doesn't sound as bad as the "Xbox" jackets we got in Waterloo.
They had the green from the Xbox X logo in them. Yuck.
You'll likely never see anyone wearing one.

an 8700g (TMO, etc) or an 8707h (NTT DoCoMo). take your pick - they look the same.

It's friday! Who's playing "Spot the RIM employee's blackberry". Come on everyone: RIM employees pack the lunchrooms of every decent restaraunt in town..
How many RIM badges did i spot? About 15. How many had a pearl? I saw two..
I also saw a device that was BRIGHT blue, almost turquoise.. looked to be a 72xx form factor. Could have been a skin or a custom case.. but it was very wild looking (like somethign you'd market to teenage kids)
Anyone else?

It was just a painted 7290 case...if you look close enough at it, the edges are more white because of the thinness of the blue
Have fun

That's the problem though, decent restaurants in this town... Bet you can't spot me, I'm incognito. I ditched the fashionless jacket...

RIM employees can now be identified by the tan suede jackets that they are all now sporting. They have a subtle RIM logo on the left side pocket, and the buttons have "Blackberry" printed on them as well.
They also extend well below the waist line so that probably was "by design".
