I have used both programs extensively.

In my experience, WebMessenger isn't quite as slick and doesn't have as many whistles and bells, but is more reliable than Verichat.

A nice feature with WebMessenger, is that it comes with a desktop client that connects with the WebMessenger server where you can add and delete buddies. WebMessenger also has chat rooms, although I have never used them.
