So is this one way to use aim in a way that would be covered with my plan?
mobile1.aol'dot'com/mobileaim/browser
Or are there other ways to do this as well? Apps and such? That being said, me coming from sprint, is Tmobile the best blackberry data plan carrier. I mean I'd still stick with my phone plan on sprint but just coming over for the blackberry as their plans seem better. Or so I thought, till I ran into this lil throw off.

So what plans are people getting? I have the following:

1000 Anytime Minutes
500 Conditional Call Forwarding Minutes
Unlimited Nights and Weekends
Unlimited SMS Messages
Unlimited GPRS/EDGE (internet access)
Unlimited T-Mo to T-Mo

For $69.99. Is there a better plan out there?

I didn't know that AIM, YAHOO, and MSN messenger services charged per message, so I'm glad that I have the unlimited SMS messaging. Thanks for the info.

What you got there is a special Blackberry plan.

Not too many people know about it which I found out when I made a chart comparing Sidekick 3 and Blackberry 8100.

I think you made a mistake. It does not come with free nights and weekends unless it was a promo.

With that plan, you do get unlimited text messaging (SMS).

No, no mistake there. I didn't add any of my ladditional oyalty minutes in there either (600 minutes that expire 12/22).

It is a "special" BlackBerry plan in that I had some grandfathered items in there (the 500 call forwarding minutes and the unlimited M2M minutes and the unlimited text messaging are included as ONE item that is only a $10 add on). It does have the unlimited nights and weekends because I have the regular cell phone service plan of 1,000 anytime minutes with unlimited nights and weekend for an extremely discounted rate (it took a LOT of fighting... in fact, it took three hours per day for three days).

The problem there was that when I signed up for the Pearl (an impulse buy when I was checking my minutes *shrugs*), the lady told me since I was a "loyal" customer, she would let me keep my current phone plan (1,000 anytime minutes et al) and let me add on BBS for only $10. Turns out, she was just nuts, so I went through two different supervisors and finally banged out that deal. My friend told me she has the same deal and hers is $10 cheaper. She swears up and down it's the exact same plan, so I thought there might be an angle I am missing there.

I considered a Sidekick 3, but in the end, it's too large and it's not very professional in my opinion. I couldn't stand holding that thing up to my ear to use the phone and I abhor bluetooth headsets (just never liked the look).

A snippet from my bill:
BB BES AddOn RIM Blackberry Megabytes Unlimited -
Buddy Time Free TMOB to TMOB Min Minutes Unlimited -
Text Messages Messages Unlimited -
Loyalty Minutes Loyalty Minutes Minutes 600 -
NW Get More w/Nts Free Minutes Minutes 1000 -
Use Them Or Lose Them Minutes - Unlimited

Your friends may be $10 cheaper if she has the Unlimited BIS plan. You appear to be on the BES plan which does cost $10 more. If you do not use BES, then you should have the change that and save yourself $10 a month.

Back to the YM from BB- I downloaded it and it works great. However, under the sound profiles (ringer/vibrate notifications) there is a "Yahoo Messenger Alert" and a "Yahoo Messenger New Message" in addition to the phone, calendar, SMS text, etc. Can someone tell me what the "Yahoo Messenger Alert" does? It seems the "Yahoo Messenger New Message" is the only one that works and it works everytime a get some text from the person- not just the first time, but throughout the whole conversation. So it keeps "beeping" over and over during the conversation (everytime I get text). I expected it to only notify me the first time the person sends some text and not thereafter. Can anybody who downloaded and uses the Yahoo Messengergive me some pointers

Just throwing this out there as FYI. The blackberry yahoo messenger will NOT work with Cingular. You can install it but not connect. It is in the fine print at the bottom of the blackberry page.

Very dissapointing.

Just by chance, look around the forums for an application called JiveTalk - - Its a multi-protocol (AIM, Yahoo, MSN, Gtalk) client that I've found works much better than EQO.

With EQO, no client would stay logged in for more than a couple hours before getting logged off. With JiveTalk, I've been able to log in in the afternoon and have the client stay logged in until I get home and log in from my PC, which would log me out of Jive Talk (after a prompt)

Only limitation is no Skype, but for many, that may not be a concern.
