Hi,
recently a number of my users have asked about the BB's ability (or lack thereof) to handle the Microsoft / Outlook meeting invitation attachments (.ics files).

We have all seen these types of files I'm sure-- when you open them in Outlook, you are given the chance to Accept, Decline, etc. and Outlook knows how to handle these types of responses and automatically generate calendar entries based on them.

The problem is, when my BB users get these on their BB, they have no way of accepting/denying them and to make it worse, they cant even see the date/time of the proposed meeting so they dont even have the option of "manually" responding to the request.

Is there some 3rd party or other solution so that the BB can properly handle these types of attachments? Surely someone else must have a solution for this!

I have a similar issue. When my user makes a meeting request from the BB and send to attendees, he always gets an error back ad it tells him the message is not sendable.

I'm interested in this as well as I have the same issue. What I've read on this forum is that BES system should allow BB users to accept/decline meeting invites, however, if the BB user is using BIS, the accept/decline functionality is not supported. I'm so new to this BB stuff so this may or may not be accurate information.

if thats true then thats good because I am implementing BES in the next couple of weeks... there should be a BIS solution too though

You need BES. Nothing else will do it. No hack of any kind will allow it. BES or nothing. BES Express is free for the first user, $109 each additional user, and if you are lucky, and buying 5 blackberries soon, you can get 5 users for free.
IF your buying 20 blackberries, get 20 for free (if you buy all at once)

check with your carrier to see pricing and offers available for BES.

And i'll repeat -- NO bes? NO WIRELESS CALENDAR! PERIOD! =)

Is BES Express for non-corporate sever environment, e.g., can it be set up on a home computer to obtain this functionality with accept/decline appts?

You'll need Microsoft exchange server or Lotus Notes domino server for BES express.

Agreed. It's meant for corporate users...

you *can* get onboard with a Hosted BES environment (someone hosts the BES account for you) for a reasonable price.. search these forums, there are many suppliers.
