Default BIG Problems with Latest BB Pearl Handheld Software 4.2.0.64

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all, I upgraded my pearl with the latest handheld software 4.2.0.64 (appearantly released friday night). I only upgraded beacuse I wanted to use my newly purchased 2GB card. After installing the new software, Wala, my camera no longer works.

I get an error message that says "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again".

I have done a reload of this software THREE times now... spent 4 hours with Tech support (overseas). Wouldnt it seem that this is a software issue, especially if the camera worked fine BEFORE the upgreade?

I would rather revert back to the old software, and see if the camera works, but t-mobile doesnt have that link anymmore.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

you can go to the rim software section on here, and pick another provider who has .51... you could downgrade to that.. and then try and update to the o2 version?

Mine also works fine. I think the problem is limited to this one user and not a major bug like I thought when I first saw this thread.

I wonder if you can backup your bb info on the SD card like the ones that you have in a nokia symbian os device. you could backup your device using the nokia sd card.

Out of curiosity, does having an SD card increase the speed of your 8100 or is it strictly for storage??? anyone know the answer? thanks.

Default Camera Problmes with Blackberry 8100

I am having a similar problem, when i try and start the camera i get the following message "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again".

The camera worked perfectly and just stopped working last week.
I have not upgraded any software since purchasing the blackberry and do not know why it has suddenly stopped working.

Did you check on how much free memory you have left on your Pearl or see if there are any programs running in the background besides the 5 basic apps?

How do i check how much memory i have left?

I don't think there are any other applications running apart from the standard ones. i have turned the blackberry off and on again a few times and removed the batter and put it back in again.

i dont think the memory is the issue. you can check it in options>status

i would do a wipe using jl_cmder (you can find on the forums by searching) and reinstall your OS, because it definitely sounds like a software issue.

If you're still running 4.2.0.64 I recommend upgrading to at least 4.2.0.71 or even the 4.2.1.66 in the sticky thread at the top of this forum.

Hi. I have been having the exact same problem since I upgraded to my blackberry curve from a Blackberry 7130g.

It does not seem to be a hw problem because when I re-install the OS everything is fine. However, once I enable Enterprise Activation and get my email hooked up to my company's email system, I start getting this error.

We use wireless synch in my company. After my enterprise activation was completed, all of my 7130 settings were applied to my BB. However, this seems to be the reason that I am getting the "could not start the camera" error.

Does anyone have any ideas? This is really starting to turn into a waste of money.

I realize this was posted in May, but since you seem to have been ignored....The 2 gig card should only slow down your device when "indexing" the info from the card.

Default Camera

Minestopped working within a week, (Camera on the curve) and I didnt upgrade any software, I have not tried to fix it yet I spend 56 minutes on tech support and had no energy to wait any longer. I would advise back up everything. I have a feeling I am going to have to wipe the memory but I havent got that far yet.. Yes I am with Cingular ATT just in case. NO its not a random event when 3 users on a BB have had the problem
