I wonder if this will be before or after the 8800 and the 8705 for T-mobile and all the rest of the new, rumored devices.

The 8705 is already out. It's just for special orders. It's just an HAC-compliant 8700g.

I would like the introduction of a 3G 8700 series because I dont particularly care for the replacement of trackwheel with the new trackball.

That is just my preference.

the 8710 3G model will be coming out from cingular .. it will more then likely come out after the 8800 will because of all the testing and tweaking that they have to do on the device before it is fully released to the public.

I agree 100%. I would even dare to say a delay of a month or two make it the 8800 to 3G for Cingular would be worth it for all that plan to buy it and my bet is that they would wait a bit longer.

This makes no sense at all...

The 8800 is right around the corner, and you throw 3G into an old device?

Someone make sense of that......

Not realy. Cingulae does from time to time put the refiurbs on thier site and this is normal. The only indication is when you will see nothing but refurb fro the 8700 and if that lasts for over a week or so.

Am I the only one that still remembers the reasons why RIM & Cingular would make a decision like this?

Apparently I am. It's most likely being done for the same reason they waited so long to introduce a camera-equipped BlackBerry in the first place: A very large percentage of users are NOT allowed to carry camera phones at all! There are many government agencies and private sector businesses that forbid the carrying of camera phones in the workspace. Most likely the 8710 is being released to satisfy the needs of those customers.

T-Mobile, of course, is employing a different strategy: Their first 8800 unit (due 1st quarter of '07) will be sold sans camera. Then, somewhere around the summertime, they'll be releasing another 8800 WITH the camera.

I think the release thing is till up in the air. Too mnay rumers going on to rely on which will get it first. We all have to wait and see. I also dnt see anything wrong with Cingular releasing 2 models at teh same time from the same manufacturer. they will be 2 diferent units and each has its own pluses and minuses.

I wonder what the casing will look like and or color scheme maybe it will look the same as the 8700c just beefed up and faster? Seems like RIM is going take over 2007 and make it the year of the blackberry

I think it will look just the same. I believe, as you said, it might be along the same lines as TMos upgrades from the 7100 to the 7105, slight cosmetic changes but obvious software changes.

I put a 3G SIM card in my BB 8700c and it is Superfast in Broadband areas near Birmingham AL and Northern Tuscaloosa Co. AL. My Cingular rep gave me a pack of them for me to upgrade all the phones in my dept.

3g isn't available for the 8700 quite yet. The sim cards you have are just capable of 3g. The fact that it's "Superfast" is a coincidence.

Right because when I tried the 8700c in the cingular store it seemed to be speedy enough it made my 7100i seem like a ford escort and the 8700c the dodge charger

I still see no reason why RIM couldn't make the 8800 series 3g....

If they did it with the 8800 w/o camera wouldn't that be better then upgrading an old device? It would still "satisfy" all their business customers.

Who knows, I don't think it makes any sense.....
