Default Pearl downsizes attachments specifically for the device?

Please Login to Remove!

I was just wondering if the blackberry 8100 by default compresses attchments such as images specifically for the device? I noticed that some pictures i test sent to myself would come in after doing the various key presses to get to Full Content, they would come in rather small.. like a picture that was once 80k was downsized to about 10.7. I was looking in the phone options and tried disabling "content compression", but I don't think that was the trick. Do I need a 3rd party software to handle attchments on this beautiful pearl. I'm sure its one small thing I have overlooked. Tried searching but didn't come up with too many responses relating. I want to know that if I send someone a picture, that it sends to them in full glory and they are not straining there eyes at downsized/compressed picture. I'm not talking in terms of sending full res 2049596x59393939 sized pictures that start at 2mb or a tif for that matter.. just simple web sized maybe at like 1024x768 etc.

Thanks in advance

It is not the phone itself that compresses the content. It is the BES/ BIS service that before transferring attachments to the device converts them to a form easier to handle by the device.

So with that said....the solution to possibly raising the limit would not be possible? An alternative would be so simply wait till you get home to manually place the full sized image/content on your device. I just want to be able to retrieve them in original form if need be. I notice most attachments on a windows smartphone device remain untouched. On a good note, I like that I can at least send multiple attachments in original form. Hmmmm....

After you have downloaded the image through the attachment menu (Full Content), if you press the menu key again, you should have an option to get the actual file.

No matter what I do or where I download the file to I can't get the actual file.I see the option that says full image, but it will act like its loading and say "receiving more" but end up being resized again. Anyone have success in receiving attachments in their original form?
