I have the stock web browser but I don't like the way it shows pages in any of it's formats. Is there an aftermarket browser that formats the page width to the screen and still renders the page to look like it does on a computer? Basically desktop view that doesn't require one to scroll left or right? Any help is appreciated!
Opera Mini is available to all Sprint and Cingular customers. Availability for T-Mobile customers is dependent on the subscription plan. BREW-enabled phones, including Verizon, are currently not supported.
A specific setting is required to enable Opera Mini to access the Internet on a T-Mobile Blackberry:
From your Blackberry homescreen, go to Options, then Advanced Options, then TCP. Under APN, enter "wap.voicestream.com". Leave Username and Password blank.
A specific setting is required to enable Opera Mini to access the Internet on a Cingular Blackberry:
From your Blackberry homescreen, go to Options, then Advanced Options, then TCP. Under APN, enter "wap.cingular". Also enter Username for APN: "WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM" (all uppercase) and Password for APN: "CINGULAR1" (all uppercase).
I have to say I'm extremely underwhelmed by Opera Mini. Small fonts disappear (literally) and medium fonts are too big for enough info. I think overall the formatting is worse than the blackberry browser.
Sorry but IE on a WM5 smartphone beats this thing up and takes it's lunch money. Actually Opera Mobile (not mini) on a Nokia E61 was the single best mobile browser I have ever seen. Opera on other platforms just isn't nearly as good.
