Default Activating Password on Blackberry 8100

Please Login to Remove!

I have recently purchased a Blackberry 8100.

I want to activate a password on the device so that people can't pick it up and read my emails etc.

How do I do this? If I go into settings; security options; general settings; and then password, it says 'disabled'.

if I change it to enabled and save the changes, will it prompt me to chose a passworde, or will I suddenly be locked out as there is a predetermined one I don't know about?

Thanks for you help.

You set the password, it is yours and not preset.

Yeah, choose a password, it will ask you to confirm, and you're done.

Then you set your left side convienence key to lock, and lock that thing up!!!!

I don't believe that is possible. You should back up your entire device, though, using Desktop Manager.

I think you could activate a password on just the SIM card -- then, it would only ask for a password at the "power up."

i thought of that but it wouldn't be locking the phone, and the phone is where all my data resides....
