Thanks, guys. Yep, I didn't even think about it from that end. I agree, won't happen for free. Wireless carriers wouldn't allow RIM to offer an option on their phones that would allow us to access the internet free.

Wi-Fi will cost; T-Mobile is already testing Wi-Fi. However, for me, the lack of coverage inside my home is inconvenient. And the lack of coverage inside my home is a situation that will never change with T-Mobile. Therefore, Wi-Fi, at a (reasonable) price, will be beneficial to me.
As technology evolves and we are offered more options, some options will be interesting for our own scenario and some will not. We have, IMHO, long passed the "one size fits all" lifestyle in technology. It will help if we can look at options with an open mind and understand all options are not for all people.
As the for sentence in the OP, "integrated wi-fi and external controls for the music player" would have been a better read. In defense of the writer, I doubt the writer could have seen the misunderstanding in their own writing.

There ARE external controls for the music player. I found the shortcuts on this site. OP/mute button to play/pause, 6 to skip a track ahead, 4 to skip a track back.

It wouldn't be important if the feature was not available to any phone, but since it is, then you would want the most of a device that you pay for. Phones right now (well as I know) don't have the tv recording capability but give it time and once they make it available, then you will hear people saying the same thing as the wifi, "tv recording is not integrated"

WOW All these replies for this? lol
I understand how it could be read wrong, but just look at the features of the phone if you're really confused. The 8100 DOES NOT (doesn't) have WiFi

I concur, the Pearl is a great model, even if my personal favorite is the 83xx series. I find most of the BB lineup quite impressive.
