This is the response I received from my T-Mobile business rep:

"They are talking about the “crimson” exclusive to T-MOBILE. We are expecting that BB around the 3 rd quarter. Although the article says May, I really doubt it. just keep checking back in or I will let you know."

Yes, it's my understanding that the code name during development was / is Daytona.

Cheers...

Well crimson would be the 88xx family blackberry, not the 83xx daytona.

With all the rumors flying around it sounds like T-Mobile would release 2 bb's a 88xx and a 83xx?!?

Following the only thing that we can follow which is a combination of rumors, pre-release photos, and general conversation. From my perspective (read: guesswork) it seems as though the codename indigo has morphed into Daytona. As the early indigo pictures and the current 8300 pictures are quite similar. There are many other similarities such as the camera, the individually spaced keys, and on and on.

So as I see it, at least we can have fun (at least thats my choice as opposed to deadpan serious) speculating, trading rumors and the interpretation of said "facts" while we can.

The obvious being that it will indeed be here at some point, at which time we will "know" all the details and the mystery will be over. How dull........

That's exactly what I was thinking about the indigo morphing in the 83XX. I couldn't have said this any better that you did, props

That's probably exactly true. The OP's rep was probably talking about the 88xx Crimson for T-Mo. I have talked to many reps and I have hardly found (a regular customer service rep) I trusted to know the difference between one plan or another, much less the 88xx BB from the 83xx BB! I doubt they even know about the 83xx!

According to Merrill Lynch, May 7th is the date. I'm guessing that TMO will get the 8320. According to the article TMO will get the 8300 with WiFi (aka the 8320). Here is a question, what happened to the 8820?

Expect 83xx to be about 30-40% cheapar than 88xx due to it not having the built in GPS.....i doubt it will have wi-fi

No way...30-40% cheaper? Let's hope so, but I'm betting not.

So are we 100% positive that none of the 8300 series will have GPS?

No. I don't think we're 100% positive the thing even exists. These are rumors and speculation. We hope some of it is true though!

Even with all the pictures, no one has mentioned anything bout the existence or lack of GPS.

Getting tired of BBF threads that are mis-titled. These should all be 8300 Speculation.

This mis-titling happens all the time and it would be nice for the moderators to start flagging this.

Why would you think that?

A GPS chip would not cost more than a few bucks in production. They are so cheap that many cirsuit board likely contain one but they are not hooked up.

Well I am really hoping for the 83xx to have GPS. That is what I was looking forward to and the 8820 is going to have GPS and WiFi, but it is released for AT&T in Q3, 2007 and I am not sure if I want to wait that long and get an unlocked one.
