Default Telenav on 7520

Please Login to Remove!

I added Telenav yesterday to my 7520 after updating to the latest firmware and installing the application. I am able to obtain a GPS location quickly using the Options - Location Base Services - Refresh GPS option. So I know I can get a GPS fix. However, I can not get Telenav to get the GPS data. I set the GPS privacy to unrestricted. It tries for about 30 seconds or so then displays an error that says "No data from GPS. Move to open area."

I've tried just about everything at this point. Nextel BB support isn't very familar with the app so they didn't help.

help?

I have it up and running, so I can't tell you why you get the error. Did you accept all the settings for the data and gps info?

BTW, Telenav ROCKS on the BB... so much better than the phone version. It not only tells you where to go, but it also tells you how fast you are going and a compass view.

Also, try calling Telenav for support. Nextel hasn't been trained on Telenav, plus it isn't a supported application because it's a third party software.

Did you download the software OTA or load it from your PC? And Nextel may not support telenav but they are certainly promoting it on their web site.

I tried both, OTA and the app loader version. I have a ticket in with TeleNav. Nextel doesn't seem to know anything about it.

Mine works fine, but the driving directions they come up with really suck. I have been using a Garmin Street Pilot for years so I kind of know how GPS's "think", but the Telenav directions are really inefficient.

That's why I haven't called either. I really would like to try the program out but I don't have the time or energy to put into helping them fix their problems.

I just spoke with telenav and they said you must use Internet Explorer to register and the PIN is the last 4 digits of your phone number.

No, they wanted a credit card number for the "free one month trial" or I could bill it back to my Nextel account which belongs to the company I'm at. So I guess I won't be able to use it.

Smile Hey Grellis and Menecues

I had same problem.
You have to got to the telenav.com site on your PC and set up account. I have mine billed thru nextel on my bill. I tried looking up address and kept getting can't find server message too. After signing up on PC you can go to telenav.com to log-in on your 7520. After i logged in it worked fine. PIN is whatever 4 numbers you want.

TelNav is freakin awesome, used it twice today to find location. It was dead on.

Well my problem wasnt with the GPS fix. I could get that fine with telenav when I go to the compass. When I sign in to get direction is where my problem was. It was always saying unable to connect to server. When I signed up, I did it online through there website. I chose my own pin and was able to login on the website just fine. Its just that telenav support barely knew anything about the blackberry. Nextel support did try to help me out as much as possible, but it was no go.

If these problems weren't so frustrating they would be funny. I had no problem accessing the server after adding telenav to my Nextel plan. I was told by Nextel that by default the pin # is the last 4 digits of your phone #. I can get directions from point to point from the telenav server but have not been able to get a GPS fix since signing up on 5/3. I just dread calling Nextel or Telenav about this, but it looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and call them.

I know what you mean. I'm just using telenav for the compass for now.

I just got a call from RIM engineer who is having me do various test with the phone. They said there are issues with certain Blackberries not working with Telenav. So they are trying to narrow down the problem. So we definitley are the only ones who have problems.

Sure would be nice to get this resolved today. Did you mean to say we definitely aren't the only ones having problems?

Just got off the phone, the test all ran fine, so the GPS is functioning ok on my unit. He said he is going to discuss it with his team and Telenav and keep me posted on what they find out. He said it is working for the majority of people but there are a few of us where it is not working.
