Default Should I get the 8800 or wait for Bells 8830?

Whats the difference? I've been a Bell Guy for all these years but the 8830 is not coming out till June 25th. Rogers has it now. Any thoughts?

I like the build quality of CNDA blackberry versions better. Where did you hear JUNE 25th? My BELL MOBILITY rep told me shipping mid-june.

All the bell reps were in for training on it over the last few days and I got June 25th from 2 of them plus a memo went out with that date as well. I hope its wrong and its sooner.

I don't know how badly you need the upgrade but I work with a lot of people who have BB's with Rogers and they constantly complain about the voice quality on the Rogers network.

My 7250 has seen better days but I'm holding out for Bell's roll out.

Rogers service costs more than Bell for equal usage. We have some Rogers and some Bell bb's and the Rogers always cost more per month!

PS where did you here the 25th was the release date?

Did you not read what I posted about all the reps going to a training meeting about the 8830?

It's hard to say what the differences will be between Rogers 8800r and Bell's 8830 since I don't think anyone one person here has been able to use both for any time long enough (or at all) to get a feel for each device.

Changing carriers always poses issues, especially if you've been with one for a long time. 3 years is long enough that you might love or hate moving to Rogers. You might love the 8800r but hate Rogers network performance, voice quality, etc. Network in your area (or areas you frequent) might be great with Bell and suck with Rogers, or vise versa. In that respect check with some buddies that are on Rogers in the same areas you travel and used your BB. There is a distinct difference in voice quality between GSM and CDMA. IIRC GSM offers better wire-line quality sound but does not hand off between cells as well as CDMA does.

Personally, I'm waiting for Bell's 8830. I believe it will be the better device on the better network for MY purposes and how I use my Blackberry.

Good luck!
