We have a BES server with a few users who are reporting the issue that after an email message is read and moved to another folder location in outlook, the message still shows up on their BB as unread or as read but it is still located in the inbox. The users have the BB Pearl and 8800.

I have also tested this and if I have a number of unread emails and do a shift delete on the unread emails from my inbox in outlook, the Pearl is unable to update the BB. The emails still show as unread and in the inbox. Has anyone encountered this issue and is there a solution? "Hide Filed Messages" has been set to Yes and No, in both cases it still happens. Also the mailbox is set to win on message conflicts.

yes, this is a known "issue" (but its really more of a settings thing) You need to enable folder redirection. Either the user can do it on their BB or you can do it on the server.

You never mentioned was version of BES you are running, but if it is 4.1.x, you can set it to reconcile hard deletes. By default, the device will not be able to do that.

Our version is 4.1.2.25.

Folder redirection is setup. Where is the setting for hard deletes?

click on the server name, click server config tab, click properties, click messaging. set "hard deletes reconciliation" to true
