Default MDS Proxies and PACs

Please Login to Remove!

I'm having trouble getting our MDS browsing working correctly on our BES Exchange 4.1.2.15 system.

We use a pac file for our internal clients, but when I set the proxy mapping for:
http://* to use http://pacserver/pac/proxy1.pac (standard client setting) I can get direct connections to internal web servers, but no external.
The log files seem to suggest that it is reading the pac file, and that a list of proxies are found, but when it tries to use them it fails.

Alternatively when I've tried to manually set PROXY for http://* and DIRECT for http://*.internal I can only get the PROXY to work, and all internal DIRECT web servers fail.

Can anyone suggest what could be happening?

LOG exerpts from PAC mode:
loading config, finds PAC info

Further down, timeouts appear

There seem to be timeout errors, but these don't occur when using a PROXY statement instead of PAC. Also, when I configure IE on the server to use either manual PROXY or PAC file, it works fine. Really getting stuck now!
Please help!

We use a PAC for our proxy config and never had an issue. Could be something in yor PAC.

I guess it could be the PAC, but the MDS selects a correct proxy for the external websites (see log extract above).

I could always write a new PAC file for it. Can anyone provide a simple PAC that will work?

Alternatively can anyone provide correct URL mask settings for manually setting up the PROXY and DIRECT options?

Here is Netscape support documentation on PAC. They have some simple scripts in there as well.
