I just got the BB 8830 and it came with a nice leather belt case.

The question that I have is should the screen and keyboard face in or out when it is in the case?

There seems to be channels built into the case for the trackball on either side.

It does work best facing inward toward the clip

Face it in towards clip. Will sleep it in either direction, but you'll get more protection for the screen facing in. And depending on your grip, you'll be holding it facing the right orientation for answering/email whatever if you store it this way.

Plus, if it's the same OEM case that comes with the 8800, there is a groove on the clip slide that keeps the rollerball from getting pressed.

There's a groove on the outside of the OEM case for the 8800 as well (albeit not as long of one). I faced mine out on my OEM case, but have it facing in in my Seido case.
