Anyone have an idea what I did wrong?

Im having problems downgrading my OS to the O2 version from AT&T. I thought you were suppose to delete the vendor.xml file, then open desktop manager and go into App Loader. When I do that, nothing happens. Any ideas?

So I

1. uninstall the AT&T OS first? Im assuming from App Loader.
2. Install the new O2 OS
3. delete vendor.xml
4. Go back into App Loader where it should recognize new os to be loaded.

sorry for the confusion....the OS that i was refering to is on your desktop not your blackberry.

go into add/rem programs in your control panel uninstall the AT&T OS, then install the O2 os, then delete the vendor.XML file, THEN hook up your BB to your pc and use Desktop manager.

If I go into add/remove programs, I see 8300 handheld software. Wouldnt this though be the new O2 one that I already loaded up? Is there anyplace else I can check to see if the ATT software is still loaded on the desktop?

One last question, how would I know if the OS has been upgraded. At first I thought I wouldnt see the AT&T splash screen and theme, but maybe that comes from some place else. My OS version says 4.2.2.67. Is that the O2 version?

Serious as a heart attack! It went so smoothly. I've been using the Curve for a day now. Installed all my third party apps, and everything seems to be working. Now I just have to get reacquainted with a full keyboard, since I am coming from a string of 71xx models. Last full keyboard I had was a 7230, and that seems like eons ago!

if in doubt , download the O2 installer (about 75megs or so) uninstall from add/remove, then install the O2 OS from the installer you just downloaded.

and its a downgrade to the O2 os. you will still have the AT&T splash screen. thats not what its for, its to fix the issue of the missing browser. As for version # at&t's is 4.2.2.89, i'm pretty sure you have the O2 os installed at this point.

btw it takes about 30mins so it seemed when i installed the new os, it hourglassed for so long i thought it was hung up. just sit tight and let it go....it takes a while

4) register at HRT
5) send service books from tmobile
6) then the bb browser shows up

Good luck!
Ok, I did this, but only get the T-Zones icon browser. How do I get the Blackberry Browser?

And step 3, What the heck does "at startup a saw the tzones and setup icons" mean?????

Yeah that explains it??? I asked what does that step mean? Anyone????? What are you supposed to do on step three. Post #75 does not clarify the step.

I never understand why people take the time to answer only to refer people to previous posts that most likely an eager user has tried to figure out on his or her own instead of simply answering the question directly.

My backstory: unlocked AT&T curve, my t-zones was there and email was there, just no browser.

I tried all the other methods of fixing this with no success and then did the hard erase and loaded the O2 version of the software, which gave me the Browser. Everything seems to be fine now, but still don't know why it wasn't showing, T-Mobile is obviously sending the service book for a browser.

I was hesitant to do it at first because I thought I'd lose the AT&T Theme, which I like, but it's still there.

It did take me a bit to find this Vendor.xml file and figure out that it's the reason my BlackBerry Desktop Software thought the O2 version of the Curve software was not valid for my device. Once I renamed that file it let me load it just fine. Thanks for the help everyone!

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I followed all the instuctions and still know BB browser or Tzones. I've done the os upgrades or downgrades on other BB's so I'm fairly familiar with the process. I just switched from sidekick plan to Bb plan.My bb service was newly activated on this phone number, maybe an hour before I did the downgrade. Is it true I should wait a while till all the bb service is active or do think I may be doing something wong.

It sometimes takes up to 24 hrs to get your data package fully active.
