When i swap simcards, Im finding that the sms messages that were sent to me on the simcard i wasnt using aren't coming in.

ie - when i put the simcard in, im not getting my sms messages. does the simcard need to be in the phone to successfully receive a SMS message?

Uh...yes.

The SMS goes to the phone number, which is assigned to the SIM card, not the handheld.
