Question Roaming - Does Your Carrier Identifier Change?

Please Login to Remove!

At the top center of the screen is the blue at&t globe logo, with "at&t" to the right of it.

Directly below that is the text "AT&T", indicating which network's tower you are currently on.

Has anyone seen this text actually change since owning their Curve? I was curious if at&t is just "SO BIG" that you never really see it roam.

I have a friend who has T-Mobile, and he says he does once and a while see his words "T-Mobile" change to "Cingular" when he is out in the sticks, and when he goes through the woods of Wisconsin, he even sees "Einstein Mobile", which is Wisconsin's local 'Ma and 'Pa provider.

AT&T has it set so that it never shows roaming unless you're international.

thats not true. You could simple call AT&T and have the CSR add "4EON" added to your account and when your roaming, it will show the other carrier's name.

What is "4EON"? Does this cost extra per month?

That's also not true. Go check on HowardForums, there is a huge thread about people who are having relatively mixed results with this. Recently though it seems that the feature doesn't do anything except flag your account that you may be roaming too much. Apparently at the very least it was saying "ROAMING" instead of AT&T, but not the actual carrier network.

Well I can tell you that mine works and your statement "AT&T has it set so that it never shows roaming unless you're international." is not true either

Call at&t's international helpdesk. They can give you the roaming rates for any country the phone will work in.
