Default #HELP* Info Screen

Please Login to Remove!

Couldn't find this info easily so I thought I'd post it for more people to find it easily. If you type in #HELP* and hit Send you will get a Info Screen on the 8800's that display a lot of info, including PRL version info which is updated when you do your *228 (Verizon) to update your roaming capabilities. There's also some other interesting info in there as well.

I am guessing that this only works on Verizon?

Someone on Sprint reported that it (the #HELP* part) worked for them as well. The phone does not dial the number for this to work, it just pulls up the info and displays it. Try it on your 8800 and see what it does. It won't hurt anything.

It's kind of tricky to dial it right because the phone wants to switch to alpha search as soon as you hit the 'H'. I had to hit Alt before the HELP and then it worked fine on Verizon.

Umm, yeah, dial using ALT to dial letters... this is what you'd have to do to dial a number with letters in it as well, so why would you dial it any other way?

Mine dialed the White House and now the US Secret Service is mad at me.

Works on my Vzw 8830. Strangely, it shows GPS enabled!

Works on the Sprint 8830 also....I even save it as "Phone Info" in my address book and it does it automatically when I look that "contact" up.

Default GPS Enabled on the Verizon 8830?

I saw this too and wonder if this unlocks another piece of the puzzle. So it appears the GPS is there but autistic.

I wonder what other screens are waiting to be opened with internal information?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

I'm glad everyone is finding this informative. I too saw the GPS Enabled info on mine and am now wondering if VZW is restricting access to it rather then disabled. Yet more fuel for the fire. In all actuality 911 GPS does work on the phone so it's possible that's why it states it. Anyway, it seems there are lots of hidden secrets to these things. I'm looking forward to discovering more each day.
