Default Calendar Sync Problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there,
I am having difficulty getting my calendar to properly sync through BES (I am the administrator on the BES, but still newbing my way through it).

Problems:
* Whenever I create an item on my blackberry and save it, it does not sync wirelessly back to my outlook.
* Whenever I create an item and try to invite someone I get "unlisted message error".

Attempted solutions:
* I've checked my "Send As.." permissions. They are in the system correctly, and the BESAdmin is properly delegated control to Send As from my domain admin account as well as the other blackberry users in my company.
* I've set default IT policy to allow Wireless Calendar Sync in the pim settings.
* I've set my personal desktop manager software (I disable redirection when I'm connected to my pc at my desk) to sync Calendar settings through Blackberry Wireless Sync

I'm running BES 4.1 with the latest service packs installed. Is there anyone out there who can think of anything else?? (Edit: We're running mainly Verizon BB's (8830, and 8703e) with a couple ATT Curves throw in the mix.... if this info helps as well, and we're all having this issue). We're also running Windows SBS 2003 w/. Exchange 2003.

Thanks in advance.

Check the cdo.dll versions on both the BES and your Exchange servers to make sure they're the same

We're a small company, and right now (much to my dismay) BES and Exchange are on the same machine. Is there more than one place I should be searching for cdo.dll ?

I found cdo.dll in c:\program files\exchsrvr\bin and it's version 6.5.7651.61

Ouch, isn't there a specific warning to not install the BES on the same box as Exchange?

They apparently tell you not to do it because it can be too taxing for the machine. I'd heard from a few people it wasn't an AWFUL thing to do, just not the best way to do it.

Everything has been working for months but this one issue.

yeah but worst case senario, if you lose the server you lose both exchange and BES. I hope you have a good disaster recovery plan.

big sony backup system (so long as the place doesn't burn down we'll survive for now).

i should be (thank god) seperating the domain controller, exchange, and bes within the next quarter (budget willing).

any other thoughts on this monster are greatly appreciated.

I was reading on the BTSC that you should not have your BESadmin account also be a domain admin

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

It is not. My personal account is a domain admin. As such I had to delegate send as privilages manually to my account as stated in the recent kb update.

and then AdminSDHolder will take that Send As permission away from your account. Your admin account should be exactly that and admin account. One you use for administrative tasks. Create a user account and when you're a user (most of the time) use that account ... especially when you're using your BlackBerry ... what better way to support people than to treat your account the same as theirs!

Domain admin privilages removed from account.... same problem.

This calendar issue effects everyone in the company on blackberry's, not just myself. Everything else works. We can send/receive e-mails, contacts, and perform lookups back to the network. Just the calendars are screwed up.

Items accepted or created from within Outlook properly display and are uploaded wirelessly to my blackberry. However, items created on the blackberry do not display in my outlook and whenever I try to invite someone I get "unlisted message error".

Is there something I should be looking for in my service books perhaps?

I'm having same problem... however when I look at my Global PIM Sync on the BES, ... I don't see a calendar group to check for sync settings... Is that normal?
