Default Best Curve Holster/Skin Accessories?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Am getting a Curve and wanted to protect it a bit. Saw this skin on Amazon: Amazon.com: BlackBerry 8300 Skin, Black: Cell Phones & Service.

Good idea? Can you still put it in a holster with this skin? Amazon.com: BlackBerry 8300 Leather Swivel Holster, Pitch Black: Cell Phones & Service

Are there better OEM holster/skins out there? Thanks.

That skin will make it very tight in that holster. I would not recomend a rubbery skin like that. They attract lint and make it hard to pocket. IMHO of course.

If you require a skin a low profile one from 'invisible shield' or 'best skins ever' will protect the 8300 from scratches while allowing it to fit in a standard holster. Google for them and you will find them easily.

I use the holster that you linked to personally. It works great.

Also, does this seidio holster work if you don't purchase the skin as well?

If you spend a few minutes on the Seidio website, and also search the forum for other peoples' experiences, you'll get a good feel for the product line.

Seidio has two versions of the holster: one for an unskinned Curve, and one specifically for a curve with their thin shell case on it. Also - the thin shell cases come in 3 varieties:
- all clear
- all black rubberized
- hybrid: front clear, back black rubberized

One warning though: if you get the one for the unskinned curve, you'll want to be very aware of how the top clip could, potentially, rub the top rubberized part of the Curve. Some people have reported that after repeated use - probably during which they push the Curve back into the clip and let it bump the top clip out of the way (rather than manually lifting the clip first) - the rubberized coating on top of the Curve starts to peel. Reports aren't 100% consistent - and a couple of people say that they *did* in fact lift the clip first, although if they did it's not clear how the case could case the peeling... Anyway - it pays to take some time, use the forum search feature, and see what others have already experienced.

I have the Seidio Unskinned Holster and also a case from RexRegina.com (Morgan Pouch)

Their site is being updated but i know you can get these from BBerry.com

The leather pouch is made with great quality and precision and protects the BB extremely well.

Well worth the cost imho

I have...
OEM Leather Case
OEM Skin (Frosted/White)
ProTech Screen Protector

The OEM Leather Case is great. It is functional and very professional looking. Even with the skin, the curve fits nicely in the leather case.

The OEM Skin I bought simply because I put my Curve down on a desk a lot. I didn't want the back to get all scratched up. The skin provides a lot of friction taking the unit in and out of the case. BUT I like that, since I usually wear my Blackberry sideways on my belt instead of upright. To me, it adds an extra bit of security knowing that even if the magnet security flap opens, the unit won't fall out of the holster.

Lastly, The ProTech Screen Protector I got is from eBay. It's a perfect fit and covers the entire screen from edge to edge, earpiece to trackball. It is made from a highly durable polymer, similar to the stuff they use on cars to prevent stone chips. The protector is optically clear and no one would notice I have it unless they looked really close. It is applied using a tiny bit of water, so if you do decide to get one, be sure to follow instructions carefully.

Any other thoughts on this seidio skin/holster? It looks pretty good. I see they have a guy here constantly shilling their products, so that's pretty annoying.

This curve is pretty slippery, so I need to get a skin/holster soon before I mess it up.

Also, did I read that the BB OEM holster has a magnet that automatically puts the unit in sleep mode? That's pretty cool. Does the Seidio do it as well?

I have the Seidio hybrid case (basically front half is clear and the back half is rubberized black) with their holster. Works very well together. The holster has the sleeper magnet. I like the hybrid case because of its very slim profile. I have the BSE screen protector on.

Regarding bestskinever, did you get just the screen version, or the fully body version?

Thanks.

I had the full body (including screen protector) for a while but had to remove the other parts and only leave the screen protector part on when I decided to use the Seidio hybrid case.

Does anyone know anywhere to get a Swivel Holster (like the one that the Blackberry 8700R has OEM)?

Medic, as far as I know, you can look at many of the sponser pages and be able to see many holsters.

I only like my phones in holsters. I like that they are tucked away in there and be slipped in and out when need, but protected (to an extent) if dropped and the likes.

I have my original holster that I got from ATT on the day I got my curve, it has no branding on it, I'm sure it's just some non sense holster they put out. I'd like to look into getting another one actually.

I bought 2. One for me and one for my manager and it is absolutly wonderful. A musty have. You have to watch the pin in the spring clip. It tends to work its way out. Just every once in a while, checkit and push it back in. Guess I could use super glue on it and stop it but its really no big deal.

Most of my units comprised of the following combo....

1) Best Skins Ever for the screen protection and
2) Thttp://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=788

This combo has always worked well for me for my 8700, 8800 and now my 8300 Curve.

Ok, I want to get both the case and the holster from Seidio. I see recommendations both for the rubber case/holster combo as well as the hybrid case/holster combo. Any pros/cons to either?

Also, do both holsters have the sleeper function for the BB? I see that mentioned for Seidio's holster for an unskinned Curve, but no such mention for either the hybrid holster or the rubber skin holster.

Thanks.

Yes, the holster for rubberized/crystal/hybrid case has the sleeper magnet.
Now, in terms of which case to get...it is a matter of choice. If you want a case that will show your phone's color/casing, then go for the clear. If you want to have a good grip but still want to show off your phone's true casing color, then go for the hybrid. If you want to have over-all good grip of the phone, go with the rubberized. Between the hybrid and the rubberized, I don't really feel a big difference with the grip.
I bought a clear and a rubberized case so I switch around depending on my mood.
