Default MacBookPro and blackberry...

Please Login to Remove!

Hey ya'll... I'm looking for a little guidance in purchasing a Blackberry.
I have never owned a Blackberry (or any kind of PDA). I use a MacBokPro for my company. I was hoping you all can give me some input as to which Blackberry would work best with my Mac and my needs.
I need the basics... organizer, phone, address book...anything else is bonus IMHO. I would be syncing with iCal and I have Verizon Wireless as my provider.

Any advice or input would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Any of the Verizon Wireless BlackBerry devices (7130e, 8703e, 8830) would probably suit your needs just fine.
They all have the same PIM functions, and will sync with iCal and Address Book using either PocketMac or Missing Sync.

The device you pick will be based on your personal preference, and specific needs.

You should base your decision on what needs you have on a daily basis and what are you looking to get out of the Mac/Blackberry relationship, some of the newer models have problems with pocketmac but I hear they are working on a solution for that.

I have an 8800 from TMO and have the internet on my blackberry, I can also use my blackberry unlimited data plan as I use my 8800 (and 8700) as a modem to my Mac. Verizon I hear has a very fast tether solution so you should be fine.

if your company has you on a BES/MES server, you can use Entourage to sync wirelessly between your bb and your mac. It will sync your calendar, email and contacts but not your notes (don't ask why cause I don't know.) This works really well. Then you can use pocket mac to sync your notes wired.

If you wish to stick to ical and addressbook there is third party software that attempts this. I could never get it to work properly though but that was some time ago and it may have been upgraded.

I think the name was snedware or someting like that. If I can track it down I will edit this post.

It's: Snerdware
