Default Should I wipe my Curve and re-install everything? How to do this?

Please Login to Remove!

Dear all,

I have not been able to synchronize my data via Desk Manager, due to possible complications of using a CSL BB Curve with an AT&T SIM card. I tried everything but still I have to do a HARD re-set before the DM will recognize my device.

If I were to wipe everything off my BB, how should I re-install the OS and the Desk Manager software. I tried to search the forum, but could not find anything that gave a step by step instruction.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure you back up first..

To wipe, go to options>Security Options>General Settinggs>click trackwheel>wipe handheld. And just follow the prompt, goodluck!

Have you tried re-installing DeskTop manager using the latest version? It really sounds like a PC driver issue. I would hate to see you go through the trouble of a complete device OS re-load for something so simple...

I believe the instructions for installing the OS are in a sticky at the top of this forum: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...l-chinese.html

They are brief, but they work. I agree with Thatzmister2u, though. It sounds like it may be something on the PC.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I will try to re-install the newest Desk Top manager again in a few days as I am travelling now. Will post the result.

By the way, a few questions before I re-install my desktop manager software.

1) Does it matter whether I install the Desktop Manager from CSL HK (that came with the Curve) or Desktop Manager from AT&T (my Blackberry account and SIM card are from AT&T)?
2) For situation mentioned above, Phone from CSL HK and BB account/SIM from AT&T, which vendor.alx should I use? Are there any consistency issues between Desktop Manager, vendor.alx, and other pieces of hardware, firmare?
3)If I were to re-install the Desktop Manager, do I need to do anything with the vendor.alx or any other files?
4) Any other pre-cautions besides backing up my phone data?

Sorry for the additional questions, just want to understand the situation a bit better.

Appreciate your help!

I recommend getting your Desktop Manager from here:

BlackBerry - BlackBerry - Sys Req V4-2 Pack 2

When you're through installing the Desktop Manager AND the Handheld OS package to the PC, then delete the vendor.xml file.

That's all there is to it.
