Post a pic. Are you trying to take a picture of the sun? That's a good way to permanently burn the lens.

That happens to me too when taking pictures of really bright objects, say sunlight reflecting off a building. The center of that brightness will be black. I assumed that it was either a bug in the camera software, or a glimpse of Jesus.

Mine does that too, here is a pic I took of the Rock of Gibralter and I think it illustrates the point nicely, looks cool at the same time though IMO

I've seen these dots before. On better cameras they will actually show clear enough to see that it's actually the opening of the aperature (I think that's the right word.) It's not round. It's actually shaped like the the opening inside the lens.
