Default Upgrade BES Express to Full BES???

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

Currently we've a small office thats got roughly 50 users, around 10 of which are using Blackberry's. Due to it now having its own Exchange boxes we need to put a local BES server over there.

Question is, could we install a BES Express box over there, (using some of our existing CAL's) and then in the future upgrade it to a BES Enterprise box? I've seen that the SBE Edition can be done this way (with the BES Update key) but ideally i'd prefer the 'free-ness' of the Express software

Cheers,

Andy

just to let you know the express will only allow you to have 6 users, SBE will give you 15. you cant use the CALS on 2 BES's well you maybe able to for some time then theyl lock out and you wont be able to use the devices.
you can download the express but to purchase the unlock key is the same (ish) price to what an SBE costs. (that is calculated at a network level as i work for one so it may differ on a commerial side.)

cheers. On the CAL's issue i was planning on removing a block of licenses and applying them to the Express box so they should only be in use once.

This is not entirely correct, Express like SBE can be updated to 15 users, and then the update key can be run afterwards.

You might find my BES Licensing thread userful for reference:
