Default OZ Messenger w/ T-Mobile BB Pearl ?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, i've searched for my answer and i can't come across it. I think I allready know the answer, but i'm not 100 % sure so I thought i'd ask the community.

I Just purchased a Pearl thru T-Mobile until the curve comes out on tuesday and I want to use the OZ Messanger that came w/ it. I've allready downloaded the application and installed it, but heres the deal. I got the My Faves 300 calling plan, and the Blackberry Unlimited Internet Addon plan. At the bottom of the data plan description it says "Does not include text/instant messaging." now does that apply to the OZ Messenger Application? I honestly don't believe it does because you'd be using Data from the internet to send and recieve messages, but I wanted to ask just to make sure before I used it and got screwed for im/txt messages that I had to pay for.

Thanks for your assistance everyone.

Yes, Oz messenger uses sms text messaging.

I highly recommend this app for data IM. There is a 30 day trial period. You won't be disappointed.

I tried downloading the BeeJive program to use the 30 day trial and it wouldn't connect to any of my messengers unless I regestered it. Was I doing something wrong?

You have to register the key (free for 30 days) to get it to work.

Ahhh ok. So my unecessary paranoia about paying for something that I don't like was what was hindering me. Nice. Thanks man.

So just to be concrete, this Jivetalk uses the Data for instant messaging, not the sms text messages? Just wanted to be 100% sure =) Who wants to pay for messages ya kno.

-Edit- I just read the website, and it uses Data. Sweet =) Thanks, but is this program 30 bux REALLY worth it, and IF i buy it can I use it on ANY blackberry I own? Like i have the pearl now, but im getting the curve will i be able to use it on the curve when i get it w/out having to pay again?

there are two options:

Device License - $19.95
Install and use the software on a single BlackBerry® device. You can also upgrade the software. However, once installed, you cannot transfer the license to another device.

User License - $29.95
Install and use the software on one BlackBerry® device at a time. You can also upgrade the software. There are no device transfer limitations with this license.

The Device license is not transferable, however the User License does.

JT definitely worthes the $30. It is one of the application that I use daily and use the most.

Edit: just to clarify, for the User License, "at a time" is the keyword, you can only use it per device at a time.

Thanks Julie, and welcome to the forums.

If you try JiveTalk you'll see that JiveTalk is worlds better than Ramble. I know, I tried Ramble a couple years ago. No comparison. (I don't work for beejive, either, just like the app.)

Default Yahoo IM

Do you use all the the clients or just particular one?

If you use Yahoo IM only, I personally like the one you can download from
http://blackberry.com/yahoodownload best. It's FREE and uses data plan.
Yes, I even like it better than jivetalk.
