Default Auto on/off for email only?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I've found the auto on/off option but is there something similar that stops the thing receiving email but still lets it receive calls/texts?
I want to take my bb out with me in the eves/weekends and not be bombarded with emails!
Thanks in advance

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

The easiest thing to do would be to create/modify a profile so that there is no alerts/vibration for messages.

I agree with above post. I do something similiar with Message Alerts from WebMessenger Inc..

When I don't want to be bothered, I activate a email rule that I set up to forward email to another address that I have that I can check at a later time. Not including my device email address, I have two emails (gmail), one that acts as a redirect to send emails to my blackberry (I give this email out), and the other will receive messages forwarded from the first one (I dont give out this address). What is different though is that in Message Alerts I can delete the email so it never stays in my inbox on my blackberry (very handy to save space as I also get bombarded).

I know sounds like alot, but I have had Message Alerts forever, since my 7290 days!

Depending on the OS Installed on your BB you may be able to turn off data services. Go to Options >Network. If there is an option there for data services, turn it off. If there is not then the methods above are best.

I do the above. It works well. I change profiles when I go to bed. That way I don't get bothered every night at 12 when some damn german is trying to sell me something. I don't know why, but I keep getting spam in german. Cant even tell what they're offering me.

I just set my profile to quiet... which turns all alerts off except alarms. Perfect for sleeping. Or I use Phone only which is just that....

Hi-

I created a No Email profile and that lets me hear my phone and text messages but not ongoing email arrival alerts - though the email continues to come.

I went to Profiles > Advanced > Menu > New Profile > Entered Name of New Profile - stay on the same screen then highlight the individual alerts to mute > Menu > Edit > then I selected None and Mute for each item I wanted to silence.

Or you can just go to Settings or Options > Security Options > Firewall and block Blackberry Internet Service to not get e-mails and not have a back log when you allow it again.

Nice and quick and don't have to block all data etc.
