Did the upgrade last night. Every now and then, my camera gets stuck on a particular zoom and doesn't allow me to change zooms. Battery reset fixes it. So would a OS upgrade, so I went that route.

Is slighty snappier, as people have said, though I don't know how much of that is true, versus my desired perception from reading these boards. What I do know is faster is loading up my calendar month view (my default view). It used to load up January of some year, then flip to the current date. That is much, much faster now, to where I hardly notice that it's not starting at the current date.

So, add that to the list of minor improvements. Will probably save me a minute over a year's usage.

I did the upgrade this evening and boy did I screw it up. I tried to unlock some themes and prevent other ones from getting installed, and all it left me with was the most basic GUI I've ever seen on a Blackberry - resembled the old Macintosh systems.

Some of the other icons were in color (Blackberry Messenger, GMail, Google Maps, Google Talk) but everything else was in black and white.

Not sure what happened, but I'm in the process of reinstalling it now.

It's a simple fix. You have no theme active. Click on the swiss army knife icon and then go to themes and select a theme.

This happens when you remove the theme were currently using.

It's just a black and white theme similar to the old original BB's.

It's kind of cool to see when you know what you're getting into, but I had no idea that was going to happen. I reinstalled the OS without touching the themes this time, and it worked okay, except after pulling the battery it went back to the old-school black and white theme. I had to set it back to AT&T for it to work.

The new OS shows the Vodafone Live browser (which was included in the last OS I had installed) instead of the Singapore Telecom browser or AT&T Browser -- any reason why that is?)

Don't know why that would be. Anyway, did you figure out how to change the theme when you have the black and white icons? I've had this happen when upgrading and a particular theme I was using at the time of the upgrade wasn't available after the upgrade. You just simply change themes and the problem is fixed. The themes are in there, it's just that the BB doesn't know which one you want so it loads the basic theme built into the OS.

Yes, I switched the theme back to the AT&T and now all is well. I got my BB enterprise browser back as well, but still cannot figure out why I have the Vodafone browser. Ah well, I don't use that one anyway!

The new OS does seem to respond a lot quicker when switching between applications (alt+escape).

I upgraded but ran into 1 problem. When the device boots up or goes live after a reset, I get this message...

"Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException"

Does anyone know what this means? The only thing that I deleted was the TMO's my five stuff.

If there's no fix, then how do I downgrade back to .146?

You might as well leave the TMo Five stuff on there ... it ain't gonna kill your filespace.

Not dumb at all:

The DO have separate OS versions. See the stickies at the top of the forum for separate threads on the various devices.

I have 16 mb of file space free, but it will only let me take another 5 photos before it says that I'm out of space. Does anyone know why this is? I can't figure out how to reclaim some of my space back, either!

I think the only way to do it through a Mac is (and you need an Intel Mac to do so) to use Boot Camp or Parrallels or some other virtual PC application and then run Windows. I don't think you can do it using a Mac in OSX.
