Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know if its official that there is no fun lighting for the trackball on the curve as there was on the pearl, (cuzz i know the 8800 didn't have it), Why would they remove the feature it was pretty cool, unless its still on there and i don't know how to do it, i tried doing like i usually do it on the pearl that option wasn't there wat you guys think.........

It's official.

Probably because the 83xx is not an "upgrade" to the 8100.

The 8320's trackball doesn't have the multi light function like the Pearl does but I've heard that there is a third party app that will let you change the lighting color of the trackball.

There's no third party that I know of and I've tried two, both from Handango. I'm in the process of getting a refund for one while keeping the other.

The one that I'm keeping is lighting up the LED light on the top of my Crackcurve in the following ways:

red
green
blue
yellow
some other random color

and it "glows/dims, disco light flashes, and rainbow" options for the LED

HOWEVER, you can also disassemble your trackball on your curve (with great care or else!) and you can actually tape colored translucent tape over the lights (cut out really small ones) and put them on the WHITE LED light under your trackball and VOILA.

There's a tutorial on how to do that here...I forget where.

The pearl has 4 Led's under the trackball thats what allowed the multiple colors. The 8800 and the curve only has one led so the only way u can get the fun lights is to color the white led with a sharpie or the way the other poster suggested taping something over it.

I find it strange because there are different color options for the LED on top of the curve. I use BB alerts and all the colors work great for that program. I guess RIM didn't ant to add the extra lights to the curve.

Definitely miss the Colorpearl action as well as the plethora of great Pearl themes out there. The Curve is still catching up in that respect.

You guys really like all those colors?? I really hadn't paid much attention to the Pearl since I don't like trying to type on it but since so many clients are using it I finally saw that function in action and didn't like it at all. I'm surprised so many here do.

*Still in SureType withdrawls after the switch to the 8320* but I really liked the blue color of the trackball on my Pearl. I even put black tape on the white LED so the blue was nice and deep. It looked good with the TMo Zen theme and the blue wasn't so radical in the dark. I still pull the Pearl out once in a while and still love the device.

Say someone like me wanted to DL this for my Curve OTA. Where is the best place to go? Sorry for a basic question but I'm still on my learning curve (groaner) with my first BB ever.

Thanks.

ok, so I was intrigued and missing color enough to install the demo version of pimpmypearl1.5 for the curve. It does change the upper led, but it wasnt very impressive and now I cant get this thing off my curve. Its not listed in the apps, I've used jl_cmder to try and remove it and it cant find it, and I've done the jL-cmder directory and I cant see any module relating to it and so its stuck there somehow. Anyone had this experience and if you did how the heck did you get it uninstalled. Its not very important but now has become a personal challenge to exterminate this thing without wiping my bbery and reinstalling it.......

OK, I hope i'm not hijacking the thread, if I am, sorry. I am still very new to the BB and I'd like a simple walk-through for installing BBAlerts. I can't seem to connect to the sight through Opera mini so I decided to DL the ZIP file to my desktop (Mac). Unzipping leaves me with 2 files; one .alx and one .cod. So I figured that I'd email the files and install that way. So what do I do to get the BB to open these files and do what it needs to do to install?

Thanks for any replies and help.

Place the .alx and .cod files in a folder somewhere you won't delete them. Then plug in the BB, open Desktop Manager and run application Loader. Use the "add" button to browse to the .alx file. Then finish the installation. It will load the .cod to the BB.

I think there is a mis-communication here. I don't want to do this through my PC (Mac) and would rather install the program directly onto the BB. Anyway, I managed to do an OTA install but as soon as I started BBAlert I got a message saying that my trial period is over. I don't get it. I never installed this app on my BB before so how could my trial period be over before I even configured the software?

Thanks.
