Problems with Telenav on 8320
Please Login to Remove!
I just downloaded Telenav and installed. I downloaded the selection for ATT 8300 since TMobile 8320 was not a choice.
When I launch Telenav, it fails to connect to server. I've tried all of the carrier choices which are "Cingular Orange" and "Other". For Other I've put in APN of wap.voicestream.com and left username and password blank.
I get the error message "Can't connect to server (10).
Then another message appears "Telenav cannot connect to server. Please select a network type - BIS or TCP.
I've read where others here have been able to use Telenav with the 8320 and the Freedom Mini. What am I doing wrong?

Why would you need Telenav on 8320, this model does not have internal GPS. Are you using external GPS device with your BB?
Also, are you paying TeleNav customer? If not- here is your problem, if yes- TeleNav customer support is your answer.

I am a previous telenav customer, and recently they found out I had switched carriers and disabled my account.. Upon trying to reactivate it and pay for it separately I've found my application now behaves the same way, upon getting the terms of use, it always says it cannot find the server no matter which connection I use, BIS, BES or TCP.
Wonder if their servers are having troubles this weekend?

I can speak for myself: I have paid TeleNav account for my 8820. TeleNav on my device is set for BIS. I tried it today and it works fine for me.
If there are issues with their servers, they must be intermittent.

You are using the 8820. Telenav supports 8800 for Tmobile. I'm using the 8320.

Telenav has been working great for me on my 8320 with gps puck. As far as they know I have an att 8300. When I called them on the phone they said "can't help you but wink wink try downloading ota as an att subscriber." If and when I have problems with the service I suspect I'll be unable to get phone support from them. I'm a BES user, but telenav is working set to BIS.

I am using telenav with my tmo 8320. I had to set to BIS in order to connect to the server. Works great now that I made that change.

After my copy expired it would no longer work, I had to remove the application and then re-install it and it started working fine.

Well - still no luck here. Based on the TeleNav forum the error message "Can't connect to Server (10)" is a problem with my set up on the 8320. I've seen several comments indicating that TeleNav doesn't support the 8320. But since some here are able to use it with the 8320, I must be doing something wrong.
I went into the TeleNav applications and edited the permissions to allow everything. I've tried to log in using BIS and TCP but no luck on either.
I've deleted and reinstalled with no effect.
Any suggestions? BTW I'm using OS "...175

Me too ...
I had the same problem with my TMobile 8320. I installed the ATT 8300 version of TeleNav and I keep getting the same error others report here regardless of whether I try BIS or TCP. HOWEVER, at one place I was at in the past few days I was suddenly able to access the TeleNav server and download the Terms of Use. Unfortunately I made the mistake of thinking it was now working from hereon, so I didnt follow through at that moment and sign in using my tel# and pin. And when I returned to try again later it once again gave me the "Cannot connect to server [10]" report ... are there just certain geographic areas where you have to be to do the initial log in? I hope the entire service isnt this spotty ...

Instead of editing all the permissions for "allow" under TeleNav, I would suggest "reset firewall prompts." It's located in the same place where you set everything to allow.

Didnt help ...
I tried both setting all the permissions to allow and reset the firewall prompts ... still get the same error code. Again, I had this working a few days ago and have not changed the set up on my 8320 in the meantime so that is why I was wondering if it was a location based issue - i can only reach their servers in certain locations?

Mine didn't want to work yesterday when I REALLY needed it to. I was leaving my customers for the airport and it would locate the airport info and such, but when it went to route, it gave me an error that it couldn't find the server.
I fought with it a little and eventually setting it for BIS worked fine, where as the TCP setting had stopped working then. It did work with the TCP settings for about 4-5 days.
Also interesting, it took me WAY of course for locating an address, once I realized I was about 30 miles away from where I needed to be in Houston TX, I fired up Mapquest navigator. It found the correct address on the first try and took me right there.
I guess it's a good thing that I keep a few GPS navigation apps on there.

How did you get the 8300 version to work on your 8320? I have a Tmo 8320 and installed the app, but when I attempt to login the phone number area is highlighted yellow and I can't enter anything into the field. I installed OTA, if that makes a difference. I can enter in my pin, but it won't proceed without the 10 digit phone number.

Roid,
Goto Options -> Advanced Options -> SIM Card. Scroll down to the phone number area and hit the BB button. Choose Edit SIM phone number and put your phone number in there. After you've got your number in there go back to TeleNav and it should be entered in the yellow box for you.
