Default Blackberry DST Patch timezoneotapatcher ???

Please Login to Remove!

When deploying the DST 2007 patch from the BES to blackberries, it is adding an entry into the Applications folder, under Options. It shows the following.

TimezoneOtaPatcher.

Will the patch work or does it have to show the "DST 2007 Patch" under options.

I do not see the DST 2007 Patch located under Options. I have simulated the time/date to Nov 4 and it works only if I download the patch. Has anyone experienced this issue?

The blackberry does not notify of the patch or anything. It does not ask it to reset. These are Blackberry 7750 (a little older model).

It also says 'Awaiting Status' when I run the query tool. PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

Try pulling the battery to reset the device.

Yeah.. great attitude. I'm sure people are going to be tripping over eachother trying to help you out now.

How the hell is anyone supposed to know what you've tried already?
Did you say that you did a batter battery pull?

If you want answers... then pay RIM for support and call them up to open a trouble ticket.
Beyond that, accept the suggestions people give you here, and work with them.

Sorry...didn't mean to have a bad attitude. I'm just frustrated. Anyway, I have tried the battery pull. According to Blackberry, it should prompt for a reset, but it doesn't. Nor does the "2007 DST Patch" show up under Options.

If I push out through the BES, a few hours later, all I get is an entry in Applications called "TimezoneOtaPatcher". Whereas with the download from the website, it actually asks you to run it. The patch is obvioulsy not being run. It just deploys to the device. I run a query and it says "Awaiting Status". Those that were applied manually say "Applied". So why is the patch not updating? Any ideas? Please help. I will be more open to suggestions as you mentioned. Thanks!

scray7 - what is your BB's OS version number? Check out BlackBerry for more info on the correct patch you might need. Hope this helps.

Blackberry 7750

v4.0.0.171 (Platform 1.5.0.30)

Shouldn't I just be able to download the patch manager and extract those files into the Shared folder, per blackberrie's instructions? I am using patch manager 2.5, the one listed on the site. Is there a way to download an earlier version?

Also, I'm running BES 4.0.4.8 Do I need to have a higher service pack? I was thinking about upgrading to 7. I've read that it has to be at least service pack 5, but RIM said it should be fine. They could be wrong. Any suggestions on the upgrade process. Can you load 7 or do you need to patch 5 and 6 first?

Also, any idea about the cdo.dll file. I am running BES on Windows 2000 and Exchange on Exchange Server 2003. They are separate machines. Do I need to copy the cdo.dll from Exchange and register it on BES. I was reading that they have to be identical. I'm a little nervous to do this. Also, if the BES is patched with a DST update, do I have to run the Exchange patch on the BES. That is for Windows 2003, whereas the BES in Windows 2000 Server. Please advise. Any help is much appreciate. Thanks!

Might want to check the memory available on the 7750. It used to be notorious for not having any available memory after installing OS 4.0.

You'll want to upgrade to BES 4.0.6 to get full DST support; SP7 is better. You can install directly from 4.0.4 to 4.0.7 without having to install the intermediate SPs.

You'll want to make sure that a) the BES is updated with the OS DST patch (KB933360) and b) the ESM installation on the BES (where CDO.dll comes from) is updated to the same version the Exchange server is updated to (should have at least KB926666 installed).

According to the webiste, the patch is relatively small. Appx 40-80KB. The devices only hold 14MB, and with the OS it shows 1.2MB free. So memory shouldn't be an issue. I will try the Service Pack update though. I also copied the cdo.dll from exchange and registered it on the BES. If those files were different before, could that be causing an issue with the deployment?
