Default first time bb user - question multiple 8310s on single computer

Please Login to Remove!

hello everyone! my husband and i just purchased 8310s the other day. this is our first time using a bb. so far so good. been reading a lot of good feedbacks with fellow bb users. i just have noob questions:

i haven't downloaded the desktop manager/software that came with the phone. btw, we're using the BIS plan and not the BES (for personal use). my husband and i only use one computer and will be syncing our bbs on that one computer.

1. is it possible to have multiple bb devices (same or different models) syncing on one computer and the information will sync to the right device?
2. if yes to #1, how should we set up the syncing process so that it'll distinguish the appropriate devices?
3. in the event that husband and i want to switch phones in the future (we're with AT&T so no problem with phone feature because of the use of SIM card), how should we update the information on the computer so that next time we sync, the computer will know that we've switched devices and the information will sync to the right device?

i hope i'm making sense. if not, i'll be glad to explain further. i'd really appreciate your responses/assistance for a noob like me. thanks guys!

You'll want to sync them with Outlook. When you set up each device just make sure you sync with the appropriate Outlook profile. When Desktop Manager opens it will ask you which profile you'd like to use. It should work just fine.

thanks john clark for your reply! i will try to do that.

hi kwues! i think what we'll need to do is have two separate profiles on one computer, i.e., one profile for you and one profile for your fiance. then each profile will have outlook in it. so when you're logged on to your profile and sync your bb, it'll sync to the outlook on your profile. when your fiance will sync his bb, he will need to log on to his profile, not yours, and so his information will be synced to the outlook on his profile. with that, your information, contacts, tasks, calendar, etc will be separate. that's my understanding. please correct me gurus if i'm wrong.

thanks!
