Tried the 8310 for a few days but went right back to the 8820. Nice device but not the 8820!

What made you switch back? These are the two devices I was looking at (I tried the Pearl for a couple of days and didn't enjoy the small keyboard and SureType.) and would like to know your opinion.

Both excellent devices. I never thought I would even use the WiFi but turns out it is somewhat handy at both the office and house. The camera on the 8310 was greatly improved but I simply like the "heft" or "feel" of the 8820.
I can't really explain it and I will be keeping it for now. I am somewhat concerned over the dust issue and after seeing dust get behind several of my 8300 units, I lack confidence that BB has fixed this. Time will tell!

Interesting. I have the Pearl and 8800 and was thinking of trying out either the 8820 or 8310 next.

Of all the current ATT Blackberry devices, the 8820 has the best "feel" for quality and I love the keyboard. It is a little larger and more heavy but just works for me and my big hands!

I was at the AT&T store this afternoon and took a look at the 8820 while the rep was exchanging out my Jawbone headset (charger was bad). Anyways, I really liked the "feel" of the 8820. Keyboard seemed more solid than my 8310 or the 8300 that I have. Nice device! My wife's gonna kill me when she see's me with another BB.

I had purchased my 8820 and had it 2 days when...... the company told me they would no longer pay for my personal phone but instead ISSUE me one. They sent me an 8300. I didn't want to give up the GPS & WiFi functions, so I just installed the new sim into the 8820. ;)
I looked at the 8300 a bit. It is smaller. But the keyboard was pretty good. I was not impressed with the camera. Flash is weak and the pictures all seemed very grainy. The only downside I saw on the 8820 was the 2.5mm headphone jack vs the 3.5mm one on the 8300. The $16 adapter from Siedio solved that problem very easily.

After being back a few days now, I will never go back to the 83xx units. 8820 has much better external speaker and the internal speaker has more volume. The 83xx series keyboards always had some flex where the 8820 is solid with a nice click.

I really enjoy the 88xx keys. I had the 7100i and those keys barely had any give. I like that these keys are solid, but still give like a real keyboard might. I use this phone so much, I recently have found myself holding down shift on a regualr computer to type numbers. All you get is symbols....strange.

Yep, I find myself spacing twice and no period appears at the end of the sentence! Someone needs to suggest that to MicroSoft!

I also really enjoy
the light sensor on the 88xx. I feel like so cool when I walk into a dark room and the screen gradually dims, and the keys light up. One of my friends was like, how'd you do that? I was like, well, I am a gangster, and you cant stop that

I went through the same thing with the 8800/8320 (I'm on t-mobile), and went back to the 8800 for many of the same reasons (felt better in my hands, liked the keyboard better, more sturdy). I'm glad I did.
