Default My Blackberry went for a wash (need a replacement)…

Please Login to Remove!

I knew it was just a matter of time. My BB Pearl went for a wash while still in my pant pocket. It’s apart and drying out for a while now (almost a week) but it seems as if the LCD is shot (not coming on at all). Called T-Mobile and they want 260 for a replacement phone WITH a contract extension! Are there any other options I have besides eBay gray-market? Any guidance from someone who has gone through this would be helpful (or someone in the biz)…

Thanks!

That's cheap for a new replacement BB. Just be glad it wasn't an 8800 or Curve. They're almost $500 for a replacement.

You can check the BST forum here as they come through for sale quite often these days.

I'm going to test how the dual SIM card adapter works. If I like it, I'll have an 8100 for sale. Where are you located?

I got my 8100 on Ebay for $230. When it crapped the bed AT&T honored the warranty. I know you mentioned you washed yours. Was just plugging Ebay. You may get a good deal...

Thanks for the tip. But for 30 bucks more I would get a new TM unit. so mad at myself now. I'm glad I held on to my old 7100 as a back up!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Pearl: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Doesn't the insurance cover stuff like that? I mean last time I needed a replacement phone all I paid was $110

I never did get insurance on this phone. To tell you the truth I don't remember them offering it to me. I will get it on my replacement.

That would definitely be a good idea, it beats paying full price... Especially if the replacement they're going to send you is a refurb.

The deductible for the insurance is $110. Usually not worth it.

Will an AT&T bought pearl work with Tmob? I’m guessing yes…

My co-worker has a pearl he is not using as he just got an iPhone…
