First... thanks for such a great resource. This forum is excellent source of great info.
A great addition to the forum would be a way to rate posts and/or members. I'd like to see folks be able to "earn" status not so much based on the number of posts they make, but instead based on the value assigned to those posts by other forum members. This could be in addition to the current ranking method. Features like this help folks seperate the really knowledgable folks from the ones who tend to talk out the ole tailpipe. Anyway.. just a suggestion. Thanks again for the great info.
I don't know who would do the rating. I bet the mod's have enough to do. But for giggles, ericl, pick a blackberry topic or issue and search this forum and the other forums and compare. I think you will find (a) the noise level on this forum is the lowest; (b) mod's don't offer answers or solutions unless they know, and will state they don't know when they don't; (c) sometimes a forum member does give wrong information, but it is usually caught quickly and corrected by others; (d) and, finally, all one has to do is just look at the "thanks, that worked" responses, or the "tried that, no luck" posts.
We talked about implementing the built-in reputation system, which is voted on by the users here (with ratings being weighted under certain circumstances). Needless to say, it was rejected, and rightfully so. The reputation system, while having great intentions, ends up causing more issues than not due to immaturity of some members (both those giving out bad marks for no reason aside from a personal vendetta, as well as those who receive bad marks and get upset about it).
