Default Interference on 7100g

Please Login to Remove!

Is anyone else experiencing "interference" on the 7100g...not the data transference that comes through speakers and other devices but a "chirping" noise (for lack of a better description) while in conversation?

At first I thought it was other "devices" in my house but I've get it when I'm out and about as well. I've had the device replaced and I still get it.

I also though it might be the receipt of a text or email while in a call but that's not the case either....

This is normal and VERY common. ANY cell phone will do the same thing. Go read on the internet about electromagnetic interference.

I'm aware of that. It's not electromagnetic interference. And I've had MANY cell phones and intercountered the electromagnetic interference but this is almost equivilant to the sound you hear when you have call waiting on a land line...but it's an annoying chirp and it's intermittance. This is the only cell phone I've experience this with.

I've heard this sound in the middle of nowhere where theres nothing electronic in miles....

Did you check the other line, it could be another call? Are you using a headset?

...or perhaps it could be a SMS/text message? I do notice those when I am talking from time to time.

that's probably it!!

Actually that's about as close to a valid answer as I can come up with.

I have actually put a call on "hold" to check to see if I received a message when it made the sound - nope.

And no, it was not an incoming call.

I was continuing to search for answers and the only other potentially logical answer is ... if I'm in an area where two cell towers are equally powerful and they are struggling against each other??

I could accept this answer if other cell phones did the same thing. My last cell before this was mpx220 and it didn't have this issue.

Prior to that I had at&t (before it became cingular) and still no issues through many phones...

Other people at work have the 7100g and don't have the issue so I'm thinking (if not the tower issue) that it's a setting of some sort.

I was hoping someone else had experienced it...
