That's ridiculous.... there's gotta be a way to put a call on hold.. that's a default function a phone should have...
thats a limitation of the CDMA network (aka verizon, sprint...) not the phone itself. any of the GSM blackberries have this option. It has nothing to do with the phone itself.
I am new to the BB 8830. I see a Conference call option - might "starting" that, place the existing call on "hold" or does the existing caller continue to hear what's going on?
From the manual:
"Conference calls
Make a conference call
You cannot add more than two contacts to a conference call.
1. During a call, press the Menu key.
2. Click Conference.
3. Type a phone number or highlight a contact.
4. Press the Send key.
5. During the second call, press the Send key."
Have you ever heard anyone ask you.. may I put you on 'mute,' sir?
I didn't think so.
This is definetly grounds on which to sue RIM for.
Who the hell makes a modern day phone without a hold button... unheard of... until now
it's like selling a phone these days without txt msging... oh ya.. RIM has managed to complicate that as well.

ground to Sue RIM? first off, they can make a phone without any features they want, noone forced anyone to buy it. obviously they have been doing something right all along otherwise they wouldnt have over 12 million active devices
well if I spent $600 retail + data plan + etc. on a phone I'll use it till it dies ;)
it's a fundamental feature of a cellphone that they neglected to mention is not there.
since the question has been asked and answered, and not much of a point past this to discuss it, any way we can get this thread locked all powerful mods/
