Default BlackBerry 7230

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I live in Chile and finally a local provider is suppoiting BBs. The only have BlackBerry 7230 and I have a few questions regarding this model.
1- Ringtones. Can I load new ringtones like I do with my TREO 600
How is the ring volume? the TREO is not good at that.
2.- Installation of applications. Is tehre a wide array of applications for the BBs? Like games, maps, utilities, etc?
3.- If yes to #2, do I install the apps on the BB or on the "server"?

Thanks.

I have a 7230 and I think the rings are loud enough. Plenty loud for me at least.

Ringtones are in MIDI format only.

Plenty of apps available for either the BB desktop software to install via USB or OverTheAir from many sites.

Check out the aftermarket software sections of this forum, it's a great resource.

I have a slightly different answer:

Ringtone support on a BB is less than on a Treo. The 7230 supports single channel MIDI ringtones - not nearly as nice as the ones on the Treo.

There are literally thousands of Palm applications. While the number of BlackBerry applications is growing, it is miniscule compared to the Palm library.

Not sure what maps and applications you are looking for...

The map app was just an example..... but the question is, the apps, are they loaded locally on each BB? or do the run on the server?

Regardin the ringtones, the CEO has a Treo and thinks that the voulme of the ringer is to low (I also have a Treo and think the same) and is woried that if we buy the 15 BBs we need, we wil have the same problem with the BBs. Any feadback there?

You load them locally on the BB (either over the air or via the USB cable). There are also server based applications. It all depends on the application.

If the CEO thinks the Treo ringer is low, he will think the 7230 ringer is REALLY LOW. My opinion.
