Default BB 8820 - stereo audio problems

Please Login to Remove!

I'm trying to find an adapter for my 8820 that'll allow me to use standard headsets. I ordered one from Seidio that was advertised as being able to deliver stereo audio but only one channel is audible. I contacted support but never got a reply to my question.

I know the audio-port is stereo-capable because I have a headset it'll work with (the upper part of a Plantronics bluetooth stereo headset). Unfortunately, the standard audio output is way too loud for me (I usually listen to music in bed at night) so I'd like to be able to hook up a headset with volume adjustment.
The bluetooth solution is just too fiddly for my taste.

So - is there a 2.5mm -> 3.5mm adapter that is stereo-capable for the 88xx series?

regards,

dakis

I guess since you are Swiss I'll overlook the similarity in our handles. ;) (you joined before me anyway so you'd win that battle)

I have the Seidio connector as well on my 8820 and it works flawlessly. There is one caveat to the 8820 though, you must plug the headphones into the adapter first, and then the adapter into the phone for you to get stereo sound out.

There is a stereo headphone detector in the 8820 which turns off the stereo output if it doesnt "see" stereo headphones. Thus, you must have the headphones plugged into the adapter before attaching it to the phone.

If you do that and it still doesnt work, try a different pair of headphones then call Seidio for a replacement.

Funny, I read your reply about 10 seconds after I had heard back from Seidio - needless to say: you're right, thanks. The adapter now works - maybe this should go in some FAQ.

thanks,

Its posted on here somewhere. Seidio should probably disclose it more prominently though.

You are welcome.

Will that adapter work with my Bose headphones?
Is there more than one adapter?
