Yes, it's one of those areas where Nextel really fails to grasp the most fundemental of mobile services.
Ironically Sprint PCS, now hooked at the hip with Nextel, has the second worst record when it comes to SMS - they used to require people use a WAP portal to send and receive them! Heresy!
But yes, Nextel doesn't get SMS|DONE, sadly. It almost wouldn't be so bad if they could just let the user see where the SMS was sent from - you can send out replies using email/sms gateways but the fact that they don't let you see the sender is almost criminal.
I hope you guys don't actually pay for the priveledge of their "sms" service. Wouldn't that be a riot if Nextel charged money for these text messages?
Thanks all you guys for all your imput.... I also get inbound messaging without knowing who the hell it's from. But I was wondering if there was software out there like I posted in the original reply in the thread. That software is for other blackberries...

I just got a BlackBerry this weekend, upgrading from an i860 - I paid for the SMS service which was EXCELLENT w/ the i860, worked like any other text message service, I just don't understand why they don't implement it into all of their phones.
I had the same problem on mine people would send me an SMS and I wouldn't get it but sure enough was able to be billed for it lol.
If you call them they can check your account there was something wrong with mine and they reset up the account and than it started to work.

They do charge for incoming SMS messages I think it is .10 a message. That is why I atleast made them fix mine so I know if someone sends one. Before when people sent a message I woudln't even get it but got billed for them.
