Default BB 8320 + OS 4.5 and Vodafone Today theme

Please Login to Remove!

I am currently running OS 4.5 on my BlackBerry 8320 and wanted to unlock the Vodafone today vendor theme which I have done successfully but I wanted to unlock the white one. I have tried to edit the .alx file quite a bit but I cannot seem to get the white one unlocked only the green one. One of my other BlackBerry devices has the white one so I was hoping to use it on the 8320 also.

If anyone with the BlackBerry 8320 has been able to unlock the white Vodafone today vendor theme with OS 4.5 could you please post the .alx code here please. Thanks in advance.

you may not be able to as the theme may not be compatible with OS 4.5 like a lot of things right now :(

PS, you should feel special... i just used my 1000th post for you :P

you cant get it in 4.5. if you read the little notes they have in the alx next to the themes it tells you why.

Grab the 8310 installation and copy the file from there.

I copied the file from the 4.5 OS for the 8310 to the 8320 and it still didn't work. I'll just stick with the Green one. Thanks anyways jibi.

See if your BlackBerry.alx file looks similar to this (I don't have the 8320 software installed on this computer):

Code:
                <!-- Vodafone filesets -->
                <!-- 8300 and 8320: only Green -->
                <fileset series="8300" Colour="True" Java="1.0">
                        <files>
                                net_rim_theme_120_today_320x240_b.cod
                                net_rim_theme_120_green_320x240_b.cod
                        </files>
                </fileset>
So three major things - 1) remove the vendorID information if present, 2) remove the radio information if present (likely radio="GPRS-WLAN" or something), 3) be sure to add the new filename between the <files> tag.

I've done all that and it only loads the Green Today theme. I've even changed where it says only Green to only Today and that didn't work, I then changed so it reads only White and that didn't work either. I am assuming that this OS doesn't allow for the use of the White Vodafone today vendor theme.

I'm getting ready to make a post about the Vodafone White theme and how I got it on my 8300 curve with the 4.5 OS.

Give me a little bit and you might have a possible solution for yourself as well.

you have to copy the cod for the file as well not just the line of code in the alx. without the cod the alx has nothing to load

You're right Spike. I just put up a more detailed method that I used last night, so I hope it might help one or two people figure it out if they haven't already.

I did copy the .cod file also during one of my attempts and unfortunately it didn't work.

I'm going to try your method and see if this time I can get it to work.
