Default Curve Crashed! App Error 523

Please Login to Remove!

After turning on, I entered my pswd to unlock and received a white screen with small letters..

APP ERROR 523

I'm also trying to use Desktop Manager to remove a couple things that could be problems (recent changes) - Latest version of BBLight & Lightening Theme.

Not sure this will work. May choose to restore latest backup if Desktop Manager can access phone.

Any thoughts on what this error code is all about

May I recommend that you wipe out the BlackBerry using JLCmder and then reload the OS. Be very careful about adding and deleting applications (and themes) as this can result in the 523 that you are observing.

Good luck....

Sorry - forgot the first rule to search first

From other msg here, maybe my recent incoming MMS messages were problematic.

If anyone else makes the same mistake (failing to search first), check out...

Incidentally, when I uninstalled my then current theme (which I had recently switched to, Desktop Manager reinstalled a Java ap. Seems totally functional (for now).

Good - sounds like it put back an application (or module) that was accidentally deleted.

Will follow-up on this shortly. For now, it's working, but I've bookmarked your link to deal with when I have a little more time. For now, I'm out of panic mode. Thx for the really quick reply.

>> EDIT... from your last msg that I didn't see until after my above reply... seems like all will be ok, but I'll keep the bookmark just in case. Thx again!

Curious.. re: adding & deleting programs & themes... is this a problem similar to the need to defragment windows based computers? I guess there's no way to do so on the BB. Perhaps the only way is to wipe & reload from backup or reinstall OS.

I use TMobile with my curve. I've gotten the "app error 523" which I refer to as the BB blue screen of death, 3 times. Each time I had to wipe my machine clean and start over. The last time the Rim Rep (T-Mobile escalated it to RIM) had me do a selective restore as something in my software was causing the crashes. Now I'm afraid to download any 3rd party software, especially themes. Has anyone else had continuing "app error 523" incidents?

I just had my first 523.

Ironically (in terms of this discussion), I also had just tried out three new themes and one free countdown application. Installing, trying, and removing the themes all seemed to work fine. The countdown timer didn't work on my Curve so I uninstalled it.

I am in the middle of restoring. Sucks.

Default App error 523 - cannot boot

desktop manager does not connect long enough to do a restore - nothing seems to connect long enough to do anything on the blackberry itself - how long does the internal battery take to run out after taking the battery out - is there any way to reset without running software
