visa & paypal
Please Login to Remove!
this doesn't really have much to do with the curve but...
recently, i found a seller on kijiji who was selling 8320s straight from the factory. i jumped on it w/o thinking coz i've been anxious to find an unbranded/unlocked 8320. i paid for the amount with my visa through paypal but realized that paypal sent the order through even though my visa didn't have sufficient funds ($50 short). turns out the 8320s are locked to rogers & branded with rogers so i asked if they could give me an unlocked/unbranded version. they said yes but it's an extra $50.
here's the problem: i'm already $50 short on the last transaction & i want to add another $50 (total of $100). i searched on the paypal site to see if i could find a way to resolve this but no luck.
anyone know if i should just go to my bank & ask the teller to deposit the extra $100 to my visa or should i wait for paypal to send me some type of notice?
will my visa company charge me for going over my limit or do they just let it slide as long as i pay for it?
i don't know how the system works & my head hurts.

thanks, cory. i emailed the seller about that. that didn't come to mind when i paid for it but i asked him, anyway. he's been keeping up with all my emails & replying to me within the hour.
"not sure where you did your research, or what you are referring to, but the unit that i have quoted you on is the blackberry curve 8320 (wi-fi) edition. yes, this unit is being sold here in canada. you can purchase through lots of ivr resellers, who have a proprietary agreement with rim. ....(some other stuff)...."

Do you have a link to this seller? Tmobile is the only carrier that has the 8320.
Maybe this device is unlocked.

My opinion? Get all your money back asap and order from a legitimate dealer--obviously he is not such, since even what was advertised is not available.

i think i'll wait for it & if it's not what i wanted, i'll return it. he keeps up with all my emails & has been pretty cool about all my questions. i feel like one of those customers who ruin your day but this is the first time i felt shaky about an order.
normally, even with legit online shops, i don't get emails until the next 24 hrs. i've been emailing this guy 3 times a day & he's been replying each & every time.

It seems like a scam to me...
i would get your money back immediately, because soon, the emails will stop, and the device won't come, and the money will be lost...

Sounds like a scam, Actually your way of thinking is the OPPOSITE
Its the reputable companies that take 24+ hours to reply to a email
It sounds like this "guy" is sitting at the computer

You need to open a dispute. Or, you can contact the seller and ask for a refund. Thats when you will know its a scam, when they just stop answering,
Just go into the paypal payment, and there should be a place to open a dispute.

wow... you guys are sketching me out. i guess it's good to know. i'll soldier it out & if he scams me, i'll deal with it through the paypal dispute thing.
then, i'll post up on the forums all the details (site, email, contact, etc.).
does that sound like a plan?

actually, the Rogers 8320 isnt necessarily a scam. Rogers is still deciding on whether or not to actually launch these. It depends on the 9000 launch. I have heard from several sources that there are a few dealers ordering these devices. Granted, i havent seen one, but it wasnt just a one off comment

It's definitely a scam, there's plenty of scams of such on craigslist.com
There all spam over the iPhone forums and Windows Mobile forum. Call Visa and tell them it was an unauthorized payment. PayPal will automatically turn it into a dispute, from there you will have more time to settle the problem. If the seller runs and does not reply to the dispute, you will get your money back in 25 days.
I have not have any factory Blackberry's, please correct me if I am wrong. I want to point out, an official Nokia factory retailer will automatically receive a @nokia.com address.

alright,
it's been 2 days & 4 emails asking for an order tracking number: no reply.
if i open a dispute on PP saying he did not supply an order tracking number but he does & the product that comes isn't what i ordered / he gives me an empty box... what step can i take, after that?

First thing to do would be to contact Visa to dispute the charge and open the PP dispute. It's very important to notify your cc, as Paypal is at their mercy no matter what they decide. I've run into problems with sellers before, which is why I unequivocally use my Amex when using PP. Not sure what your cc's policy is, but whenever I have run into a problem my card credits my account way before the pp dispute has been decided in my favor. Once the cc company decides to credit the account, you're home free and it's the cc company's problem to try and get the money back. I would wait a few more days to see what happens, though. You have 30 days under PP policy, and probably a lot longer with your cc. Good luck.
