Exclamation Still no fix for app error 576?

Please Login to Remove!

Every so often, one of our BES-hosted 8700c devices will crash with app error 576. The only fix I've found is to wipe the handheld and have it re-activated on the BES.

Has no one yet found a cause and/or a fix, short of wiping and/or re-loading the device OS?

TIA!

Never heard of 576. If it's happening with only 1 device, it sounds like the OS is pooched. JL_CMDR wipe the OS and reload from scratch with the most recent OS from the carrier. That's what I would do. /shrug

We have had this happen to roughly 6 - 10 8700c handhelds since receiving about 90 of them late last year.

Try updating your roaming tower list (PCL). It fixed a lot of our 8700 issue. There was a known Qualcomm chip issue and tower confusion with a competitors that caused reboots and 576 errors.

Interesting - is this on the handheld devices, or on the BES?

Unhappy

It's on the device, and it resets itself all the time...

We just had this issue today with a new security policy. We applied the new policy to 3 users, and one of them got into this issue. It's the first time it happens to us...

I don't know the BB model he's using yet, but I can post it later if it helps.

This is only for CDMA devices.
There's no such thing as updating the PRL on GSM.

Immediately after upgrading to BES v4.1.6 and opening an email with an embedded image, my phone died with app error 576. I've got an 8700 with 4.5.0.37 on it. I troubleshot the problem down to my IT policy... I have yet to compare the policy that creates the problem to the policies that don't create the problem. Stay tuned

Can you find anything by pressing Alt + lglg on main menu? It should display event viewer and potential error in bold letters...

It seems as if any events before the crash are deleted. For example, I crashed the phone at exactly 1:00. It restarted and I immediately checked the log. The earliest event that was logged was from 13:03:21.

There is an event in bold which simply states "TNLt"

Should I be viewing a specific log? Right now i'm looking at Information

After going through my IT policy and manually checking each entry, it turns out that Disable Persisted Plain Text (under Security policy group) is the culprit. We had ours set to True. After setting it to False/Default, the errors went away. Makes sense now that I think about it... I've only tested this on my 8700, but I should have some other devices to test by the end of the week.

ran into this issue 3 times today,
3 differnt 8820s if i remember right, 1 brand new.
It did indeed happen be our normal IT policy that was causing it.
When put into default, or our other IT policy it went away.
didnt have to wipe or anything.

but the above IT policy setting: Disable Persisted Plain Text (under Security policy group)
was set to true in both the IT policy not working, and the other non default it policy.
so may be other causes as well.
